...just wondering if people could post what they have goin' on in their ride right now.

I've had my tC for 3 months now, and I'm already bored of the stock system. The '08 stock 6" sub sounds like butt (but what else would you expect?). I've always had the audio bug... but I think it's creeping up behind me again :mrg:

Hi Meg!
There are some design criteria you should answer before jumping in and buying equipment. This will help you avoid buyer's remorse.
What do you listen to?
How loud (relatively)?
How important is sound quality, and possibly competition?
Who's the installer?
What's the installer's skill level?
How much (if any) trunk space are you willing to give up?
What's your budget?

There are some general trends that should be followed too, and some pitfalls to avoid.
Buy from a reputable shop. This sounds obvious, but most will troll ebay or a bargain basement shop trying to save a buck. All too often, their plan backfires.

Buy quality equipment. This does NOT mean "expensive". Again, this might sound obvious, so stick with the bigger names until a new company has established a reputation for taking care of their customers/equipment.

Research your installer. Ask for photos of prior work. Thoroughly discuss what (if any) modifications will be done to the car. What will be reversible? Get EVERYTHING in writing!

Budget. If you're budget doesn't allow for a one time purchase, or an all out installation, consider designing a starter system that can be built upon. With careful planning, you can have a very "custom" looking and performing system!

Robyn's World Champion system can be seen here (Rocketgyrl - near the bottom):

She had a Clarion DRZ-9255, Arc Audio amplifiers behind the factory rear speakers, Seas Lotus Reference components in the kick panels, and Critical mass subwoofers in the spare tire well.

Thanks CSU... I have some idea's of what I want already. I actually used to work in the car audio industry :) I had a pretty nice system running in my last car, but decided I wanted to start over on the tC. It only took me 3 months being with a stock system to realize I'm just too much of an audio fanatic to stay stock for long! :)

Just curious what everyone else has in their ride right now... I still have my personal preferences, but I just like to see what everyone else is doing as well. Always have! lol.

Now I have a very noob question. since you all changed out your head units; how many of you all still have use of the steering wheel controls and what did you do to keep it?

i lost mine but my deck has a wired and wireless remote, so no big deal. PAC makes adapters for most vehicles. dont know how well they work though. i've heard mixed reviews.

they are rms numbers...... i dont think any good audio companies use peak numbers to identify the amp with the power rating anymroe.
