Design the Asylum 08 Shirt!!

All right ladies and gents!!!
It's that time of year where Asylum is fast approaching.
I need all you creative, talented people to post your t-shirt designs.
This will run through March 1st.
We will pick the top 5, and have a poll to pick the club favorite.
Winning design will be used on the Asylum shirts this year.

Design must incorporate the Scikotics logo, and Asylum 08.

Final artwork must be sent to me in vector.

i have one that i did for the first asylum that we didnt use for some time reason or another, i can adjust it but also wanted to do more maybe.

Yes, you may do more than one design.
Just one color, or B&W is ideal.
No definite on the shirt color as of yet, but they will be done in black ink.
Just the front, as the back of the shirt will have the sponsor info.

What do you mean by Vector? Do you save the photoshop file as a certain thing for vector?

Basically it means that the whole design will have to be drawn in Adobe Illustrator.

I am the owner of ESI Promotional Products. We print shirts and thousands of other products. I have been talking with Rob about the designs you all have come up with... I think they look great especially the design from kewlbox (PINK is IN!!!)... One major thing to consider when creating art for shirts... the fewer the colors the cheaper the shirts... You also have a limit on the number of colors you want to put on the shirt!!! anything more than 4 feels heavy on the shirt. when you wear them they feel like you have a pound of ink on your shirt. I also mentioned to Rob that there is now color blending, so if you have two different shades of green like the gray shirt design has, you have to count those as two different colors and that equals two different screen charges...
This is a FYI comment... I deal with this all the time and it is tough to do fewer colors and still have the logo you like...

I asked him to point out the ins and outs of the tee shirt business, so we can work with him on the design process.

Less colors, and less spread out images, keeps the production cost down is all he's saying.

In my experience with having t-shirts made for our chapter I found that many people don't know how the screenprinting process works and they have all these crazy ideas of what they want done and don't realize the work and cost put into it. Thanks for your imput and welcome to the site!

here's a quick design I threw together since my last post - front, back - whatever. I had the back in mind when I drew it - ideally between the shoulder blades on the shirt.

I like simple, obviously lol. I like knowing people don't have to stare at me to read my shirt lol.

Yes, actually I am. I haven't had that much fun with vector graphics in a while. I'm thinking of what to do for the back, it will be interesting, but I ain't tellin' :zip:.

It does not look good when you print across the sleeve seams you will get gaps in the print. The biggest screen has a 12" wide printing area... I think the design looks awesome but the only way to have it printed across both sleeves is to have 5000 printed in India... Make it go from shoulder to shoulder no problem.

Good Point Although are is a way to get around going to India or anywhere out side of domestic Printing. There is A thing called Belt Print Which Is an over sized Way of printing which alot of companies are starting to to go because one it is less expensive then Engineered print. because you wont have to engineer the garment over sized prints are becoming almost an industry standard check it out i attached a sample of an belt printed tee which looks pretty good even on the shoulders its not crisp but it actally makes a pretty cool effect.http://www.80spurple.com/catalog/popup_image.php?pID=25931&image=0
there are tons of companies domestically that can do theses types of techniques.

Ok guys, here is my designs. I did one for the front of the shirt and one for the back. The back design is detailed but leaves enough room along the bottom for any and all sponsors. Hope you enjoy and feedback is appreciated.

P.S. If (big if) my design were to be selected, could someone possible help me convert to vector for shirt printing? My Illustrator is messing up again :boohoo:.
