Most of your bolt on mods are designed to improve FE. However, its usually the nut behind the wheel that ruins all those benefits ...

With cars, you gotta pay to play.
High quality parts will cost money. Knock off parts will be cheaper.
Just like Oakleys are expensive. Fake Oakleys are like 10 bucks.
Cheapest way to do things are to do DIY mods and to do the installation yourself. Dealerships charge labor by the hour which is about 80+ an hour.

Well actually I have a F-150 right now that I am selling to get a tc and I just wanted to start off with a few mods and start with the engine first but ill deffinately go with the high quality and im planning on doing the work myself. How do you guys like the tc? I've test drove a few and I loved it. Do you know about how many hp the CAI, throttle body spacer and the header will give you?

I think the biggest thing to keep in mind is comparng the tC with other popular imports that people really like to tune. For instance, on the civic, an intake frees up a lot more HP than an intake on the tC.
But with a CAI, TB spacer, and header, I'm estimating about a 15-25 whp gain.
People are able to build N/A on the f22c and h22a blocks for relatively cheaply because they already come at a high compression.
I would check out Raceland (www.racelandus.com (http://www.racelandus.com)) The parts they sell are pretty cheap. If you really think about it... an intake is simply a tube and filter. It is not difficult for companies to buy an intake and simply make a copy. I have their strut bar and the quality is great. I am considering their exhaust right now. But I'm not digging that huge canister exhaust.
I/H/E is not a bad way to start. I'd recommend the NST lightweight crank pulley as well.

DO your homework on the tC. Great car, however you may like the new 2011 which is a total redesign from the current body style. So look at both before you jump in and then go ... DOH

I just seen the new tC this weekend at the track. It looks the same at first glance but it has a few tweaks. Some big rig pulled up and they unloaded it. They were just showcasing it to everyone. Sweet car.
