more info:

Originally we were not planning on charging a registration fee for the Don Joseph Scion Show this Sunday, but a New York Scion owner asking for our help has approached me. Jon Greco needs our help in raising funds to help pay for his friend's funeral costs. His friend and fellow Scion owner, Sal Gianni, recently passed away in a fatal car crash in his xA.

Jon wants to take up a collection for the family at the show if possible. The family hit hard times financially a little more than a year ago, and Jon wants to do all he can to help them out. Sal was only 19 and left behind his mom, dad, and little sister.

We are now asking for each car that is registering for the show to make a donation of at least $5 to help Sal's family. I understand this is last minute, but I hope everyone understands the circumstances and can help a fellow Scion owner out. We will also be selling raffle tickets at $1 a piece for the same cause. There will plenty of gift cards and smaller prizes in the raffle.

Jon Greco and his friends are driving down here from New York just for the DJ Scion show. Sal was originally supposed to make the drive with them. Let's make them feel welcome and try to help out as much as we can!

Here's Sal's bio written by Jon:

In Memory of
SAL GIANNI
October 11, 1990 – July 27, 2010

"Sal Gianni was an avid car enthusiast who has been on and around the tuner scene since a young age. His first car, a 2005 Scion xA RS1 was number 732 of 1550. Damaged in a side swipe hit-and-run, Sal and his father decided to paint the car a custom two tone red. Sal poured his heart and his soul into the xA, constantly updating his stereo system and swapping out parts. Sal took home trophies from small local shows, all the way up to the likes of Hot Import Nights.

Sal was the kind of kid that would do anything for anyone, regardless of the time or what he was involved in. He had his hands all over almost every car in every club he associated with.

Sal knew cars were his passion. He finally had a job he liked, working for Reme (formerly of Unique Whips) at Reme Designs, doing install work. Reme trusted Sal in his shop. Even though he was only 19, he was very talented. Sal was driven to learn something new every day.

Tragically, Sal passed away in a car accident on July 27th.

We are trying to raise money for the Gianni family right now. They need our help. Money is tight, and the costs that are unfortunately associated with this tragedy are astronomical. We want to help them as much as we can."
