looks like a ported hole for the CAI. hope you guys dont get another hurricane.
I thought about doin somethin like that, but I thought of just drilling out the fake lower side grill.

don't drill, just pop off the bumper and pull it out.

Lol yeah - that side grille pops right out... Not sure how I like that hole, myself.... The white lip around the hole draws attention to.... a hole.
P.S. - you spelled "Nautical" wrong ;)

off topic of bignoog's car ... but ...
my thought .... I didnt want to take out the insert, I dont want to leave a hole there ...
I came up with the idea of just drilling the insert, make it an actual grill of sorts. It came to me after reading the post from the guy on SL that put LED's in the insert instead of getting actual fog lights ... get a drill bit small enough, you can drill out the parts of the insert/grill that should be open for air to pass through. Now he used the holes to put LED's in, I'd just leave the holes open. I doubt I'd even feel any additional performance , but it was a thought.

yeah but that wont allow any air in it. I think the whole point of having tha gaping hole is to get air in the cai. If you just put a grille in there you'll be fine. IMHO i think its fugly. Looks like a wastegate from a drag car and it just is a shame to rice out a tc like that. but thats just my opinion.

Why would you cut a hole, you don't want turbulent air around the filter. Unless you are piped directly from that hole, you negated the CAI benefit by not allowing a smooth air flow.

Ok first of Heath Car is tight bro.. clean looking nice man....
2nd Bryan that pic you posted is what I was gonna do to my lower grille but I was told by so many poeple NOT TO do that because it will create a twister type of suction and will F* up the filter on the intake sounded redicuolous at first but the more I heard it I thoughy possible logic. I just popped off the grille and left it like that. However my new front bumper has cut out for an intake right in the front..

makes sense. itd create a pretty erratic flow of air, especially at higher speeds. along that thinking tho, it would be better for it to take the air from the shielded fender anyways.

Correct, ideally you have a smooth laminar flow, free of pertubations. A stagnant air mass, such as that in an enclosed bumper area is ideal. TOYCO did a pretty good job with this one :P

yanno .... I dont know what "laminar flow, free of pertubations" is ... but since you're agreeing with me so I get the idea

The ring is actually chrome and I like the way it looks. I did it mostly for looks. It looks alot better in person then in this pic. I got compliments on it all weekend. I'm not worried about turbulant air flow and what ever corn ball crap that goes with that. I don't see where it would make enought of a differnce to matter. Like I said it was a looks thing mostly.

I guess it's the picture quality then... Cellphone camera?
There's still ways to hide the amp & cap and wiring too... just do a little custom work. I'm not comin down on your or anything but I'm a stickler for stealth. What you did is pretty good though.. even if it's not my style ;)

Thanks guys. I was going to hide all of it under the seat or in the spare tire compartment but it was a space issue. I'm thinking of making a cover to go over the amp and cap and stuff but there is a space issue. If those damn 15's didn't take up so much space it would be all hidden.

07-28-2006, 11:02 PM
Oh no wonder... it's a 15"... I have 2 10's... and no problem with wiring. Space isn't so much a problem cuz I cut the foam underneath the seat to sink in the amp.
bignoog1
07-28-2006, 11:15 PM
Yeah I only wish it would had that kinda space
