Well yesterday I had a fun one. I was driving up Bloody 13 to do some work and I heard a little noise under the hood. I thought I hit one of the millions of gators on the road or another bird. But about 20 miles later when I pulled into my destination I heard the radiator boiling away. I opened up the hood and discovered my belt had fallen off thanks to a nut coming off the metal bracket which holds the alternator in place with the engine. Not sure how that came loose. I would guess that the no alternator meant no fan going which ended up in it getting a bit hot. Well Here I was stuck in Collins MO with no auto part store for miles around. So I called up my dad he went to O'Reilly's and got what they said was the correct belt. and some assorted nuts. He drove the 60 miles to get to me and the belt was to wide, and to small in diameter. So.... we had to go back to Springfield to the Dealer since no one in the 4 state area has the correct belt. $46 dollars later and another 60 mile drive back to Collins I get her up and running. Filled up the antifreeze since it had boiled out some and the car started just fine. Runs fine, AC power everything seems to be in order. But the Check Engine Light, FSC, and Trac Off light are now one and can't get them to go off. I have been reading and most say those lights mean a mass air flow sensor or the Knock sensor needs to be replaced. Why would this happen from the belt getting thrown? Can I go to Autozone or some where to have them check it? can they reset the lights and see if that is all it needs, or do you think there is a bigger problem? All the help I can get is appreciated. PS. Other than hitting animals this is the first mechanical problem I have had on my xB she now has 148,000 miles on her. :Banane22:

Thanks.

unplug the negative battery cable for about 5 minutes...that should reset the computer and any lights that are on
