Iv'e decided to paint my steering wheel covers and i was wondering how do you remove them without deploying the airbag...if someone can provide a detailed description that would be very helpful

All you have to do is , "disconect" ( Take off the - side ) the battery and remove the two screws on the back side of the steering wheel. Then do all your painting then put it back on but don't hook the battery back up until everything is put back together.

Then it comes apart.

I will recommend that you let the car sit for a god 20 -30 minutes after disconnecting the battery before you pull any other plugs. Some airbag systems have residual batteries that hold power for up to that long. The airbag -could- deploy (though it really isn't likely).

Removing only the negative is sufficient to "open" the electrical circuit, which would prevent power to the car, and thus to deploy the airbag. You could remove both, but you don't need to.

Yes it takes quite a bit...

The screws shouldnt fall out once you have unscrewed them think they are stuck in.

Just disconnect the battery and your good... Negative only

it took me forever to figure out how to remove the plugs from the airbag. there are two little clips on the plugs that you have to lift up on to disconnect them
