some times rotor and drums get a slight rust film after sitting , and clears up after a stop or two , but i would have it checked to be safe

you might also have you hydraulic fluid replaced. brake fluid will attract moisture and start to crystalize. that can cause the rear brake pistons to try and stick. you should have your brake fluids replaced at least once a year or 30k miles

Set the e-brake frequently. The rear brakes on the xB are self adjusting but inly adjust if you set the e-brake. I found this out when I had the work done on the fronts and he looked at the rears.

never heard of having to have the brake fluid changed every year or 30k miles

Mine makes a creaking sound, even though I use the e brake. I figure the axle will simply fall off eventually.
