Currently I am running Alpine spx-17pro speakers in the front off a weak hifonics amplifier. I'm looking to upgrade that amplifier to a 4 channel amp, because I just installed the type-r coaxials in the back.

I just need a couple recommendations on what amplifiers would give good sound quality. I understand that class A is probably the best, but i'm not even sure they make those anymore..

The two amplifiers I have in mind are:

Sundown Audio SAX100.4D (class D, 100wx4 @ 4ohm)
Phoenix Gold Ti600.4 (100wx4 @ 4ohm)

I know those are two pretty reputable brands, not sure what else is out there, or if those are good. I don't want to spend more than 500 though on a 4 channel amp.

Any recommendations?

the kenwood excelon x600f is a great amp for the money.

I don't think kenwood or alpine are as high in the amp market as phoenix gold or sundown audio. I'm looking for something pretty high end.

I've also had my eye on the new pioneer stage 4 amplifier. it's 550 though which is pushing my price range..

the excelon line is extremely nice. i have had nothing but great luck with all of them.

I'm running the KAC-X4R with the signal processor built in and its extremely impressive.

Anything out of the newest Rockford Power line is great too

Personally I'm a JL guy myself for amps. My 300/4 was only like 400ish.

Alright I'll look around. I like the new pioneer stage 4 amplifier. or the new line of alpine pdx. but it's gonna be some time. I want to get a new head unit first that has better equalization. That'll take some research...
