You are going to get lots of different answers here, and to be honest in most cases you can get a very expensive alarm but if not properly installed it's worthless. My opinion is something from compustar or autostart they are the best for range and they have some pretty cool features. I would say the pro2w9000fmas from compustar. But you may also want to look into some sort of gps tracking maybe also from compustar it's called computrack.

I'm partial to the Directed products (Viper/Hornet/Avital). I've had my VIPER 5900 (1-mile range remote start/alarm with 2-way communicating LCD Remote) for quite some time and never had a problem with it. If installed correctly (by an authorized dealer) it has a lifetime warranty on the alarm brain and most dealers offer lifetime warranty on the installation. I also like them because there are SOOOO many add-on's for them. YOu can add on GPS monitoring, glass break, paging, extra sirens, etc.

As for remote start on a manual, it's a matter of safety. There are devices out there that disable the remote start if the vehicle is in gear. If you choose to do a remote start on a stick, make sure that the shop is VERY experienced or you could see your car hopping thru the parking lot or smashing into someone or something!

we are an authorized retailer for Compustar & Compustar PRO (www.compustar.net (http://www.compustar.net)), Ultrastart (www.ultrastarters.com (http://www.ultrastarters.com)), Scytek (www.scytek.net (http://www.scytek.net)) , have access and installation experience in many other brands including DEI (viper, python, sidewinder, valet...). Compustar is industry leader in 2 way technology. DEI cant figure how to keep the remotes from chewing up batteries, so they suppy a usb connect to charge the remote (STUPID!!) They also thought they figured out the manual transmission module...NOT..recalled them and are being reconfigured. we have all models in stock and we have absolutely NO problems with the maunual transmission remotestarters. take a look...ask whatever questions you want..my installation team provides tech support for free..,... chris

any alarm can be the best kind of alarm, i charge people extra sometimes if they want every wire to look factory with nothing seen even to a trained installer, that is the best way, is to pay extra and leave your vehicle for extended period of time, but there arent that many people that offer that

You charge extra for what should be done anyway as part of the install?

no sir, you have turned my words around, its not like i charge alot extra, usually just an hour extra of labor, which is 65, i also dont just mount the siren in the engine bay, i make it difficult to get to any wiring, even to a trained eye,
