Removing Rear View Mirror?

I was thinking about getting a Wink Mirror, but the regular rear view mirror would still be in the way. This makes me have a couple of questions.

Is there any trick to removing it?

Should I try to just remove it by sliding it up? (some mirrors just slide off the metal part stuck to the class)

Should I just rip it off brutally? Will there be consequences?

They make a silicone glue remover that you can buy at the parts store.

I put a wink mirror in mine less than a week ago. Just slide the base straight up and it will come off.
