My xB has surface rust in the paint. I don't think it's all the way through but again I don't know squat about paint. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? I don't want to pay for a new paintjob.

It's like an acid rain that embeds into the paint
Best thing is to just use a wax with a cleaner in it to hide it best you can.
They also have these small sanding blocks that you can use but you really should leave that up to professionals, it needs to be compunded after sanding.
Hope this helps

So would I be best off just getting it repainted?

if its what i think it is, its rail dust, all toyota have it for some reason, you can either acid wash it or take a clay bar and clay bar the spots and it takes them right out

What's a clay bar? What does it do? Where do I get it?

check autozone or one of those type of stores, it basically feels like putty kinda, you spray detailer on your car than take the bar of clay and rube it on the area you want and it takes all the impuraties out of the paint including those littel rust spots you have, sometimes there a little hard to get out but they do eventualy come out of the paint
