View Full Version : How many licks does it take to get to the center of an xA?

I'm getting way way ahead of myself, but I'm trying to see the good in my whole situation. I'm going to seriously consider this little guy, but I really only know tC's. I need to know though ...

1a. Is there a good complete exhaust system? Cat-back? I found a bunch of axle-backs.
1b. If a full cat-back isnt available, what's the best axle-back and the best route to finished the system fom the header back? Supporters/club sponsors aside, hopefully an impatial opinion
2. Header, what's the best? Supporters aside, again looking for an impartial opinion
3. The perrin pulley, is it worth it? Is there a better one?
4. Lowering springs; I definately want to drop the ride, but I want to maintain a streetable clearence and keep a good soft ride. What springs fit the bill there? Also would it be worth upgrading to the TRD Shocks and Struts at the dealer and still work with the new springs?
5. xA and xB parts are pretty much cross compatible yea?
6. Wheel/Tires size. The stock size is what? 15? 16's shouldn't have any issues no?
7. Last, but not least, what is the least common non-RS color? ...do we have a timetable on the RS xA??

Thanks guys, sorry alot of this stuff is answered in other places, but I was hoping to have it all compiled into one place. I'm sure I'll think of more tomorrow sometime. Thanks again!

As for header and axle back exhaust , i have the Strup Stainless steel header and axle back on both my xB's and love the sound and fit was excellent .
There was also a noticable power increase and the engine reves faster
Just my .02 worth

1a&b. Axle backs, well since is only an axle back you wont see much gains in any of them. Youll probably get more gain bypassing the resonators and cat.
2. Hank has the DC and David has the Strup, David beat hank in the 1/8 but it could have been due to the drive, both cars have similar mods. Personally DC is overrated this days.
3. Pulley, yes is worth it, small gain, but you need all you can with this lil cars.
4. Tanabe Df210, just about the whole DFW chapter has them, no complaints on the ride.
5. Motor and suspension parts yes.
6. 16 are no problem at all, if you going that low on the wheels, get something with a low offset, perharps 16x8 +24.
7. Flint mica... Althought the xA's around are white or black. So ill say any color, Cathy and Tim has Black, Cody, Ken, and Maria has White, Pauls is red.

ok
so far than ... I'm looking at the Strup hookup. I didn't want to go with strup just because we have such a great setup with them, I wanted to go with whatever sounded and performed best, but it looks like Strup is both of those!
:pilot:

I know we got dual exhaust ends on B's, can duals be fanagled on A's?
I'm thinking IIP on the xA, damn purty color ...

the TRD Shock/Struts upgrade at the dealer good? or better buying those afterwards and installing self? I'm weighing in having that financed in and installed vs. buying outright and doing it myself.

Not worth getting the TRD financed, if anything get the struts only, but the stocks should be good, they are for me..

Please dont put duals on the xA dude, please please please, youll end up on the Taters and Rice section as soon as i get a pic of it.

whats IIP?

I think if your used to the Tc you wouldn't like the XA but if you were in the Xa you also might not be here today if you crashed in it instead of thr TC !!

yea, both of those points have definately come to mind. but I doubt I can afford tC insurance, if they quote me and I can afford it I will definately be ordering another tC, but if I can't, I'm going to start searching for a new car, and I'll be starting with the xA

lol
tC support wasnt so hot either until recently, was my biggest gripe. at least with it sharing mechanical parts with the xB, there's something to build off of

xA support is getting better and you can always get ist stuff.

Besides, Cody needs some more damn competition.

I still vote IIP like we talked about last night. It looks like most people are saying the same stuff I did too. :bash:

Since I know where you are on this (traded my BSP tC for PW xA) I can give my 2 cents.

xA aftermarket world sucks you have to use xB parts on your xA.

As far as trade off on the car I actually like my xA cause there aren't that many around plus when you begin to tune it it start to feel like an expensive go kart (fun, fun, fun)

If you need more specifics answered pm directly I would be more than glad to help you out.

She hasn't. She wants to get eye surgery done before she gets another car. She's fucking awesome as this saving money thing. I just make it really hard for her to do it, what with getting in car wrecks and settling debts and what not. All the same she's subtly pushing for the xA too. Everytime I come up and I'm like "Hey, what do you think of this one?", she gives me the same response "It's ok, I don't really like it ... but I didn't like you tC either and I really got used to it." Where as I already know she likes the xA and has nothing bad to say about it. I think that if I don't get an xA now, she may be looking into a used PW sometime next year. If I do on the otherhand ... she's prolly going to get something ... bigger ... like trialblazer, tahoe, suburban bigger ... lol

Poor poor xA aholics, if you guys only knew what all was creeping around different parts of the metroplex, actually nothing is just wanted to stir up little bit of trouble. I wonder if I could put a jet engine in an xA and make it a legal everyday driver?

oooh yea, we test drove an xA ... for her ... she wanted to drive it... she really liked it. She tossed in an incentive ... if I get a Scion, she probably will too, sometime next year .... if not, than she'll probably get a suburban .... I'm thinkin dollars and cents, I'd rather she have a scion lol
