its an interesting idea .... curious to see how it plays out.

as far as the '07's having a different fitment ... meh ... as if variety of parts weren't already few and far inbetween, after only 2 years parts are being changed. Wonder how aftermarket companies are going to handle developement of 05-06 parts and 07 parts.

well i doubt the other models will go though changes like this. the tC is their first time making a true new car, they will work out the kinks and start sharing more and more between the 3 models they are using, enginewise to make things easier.

in my opinion we may find out that the same stuff they use for the 07 tCs will fit the tC replacement and mabe even the xB/xA replacements cause Scion mention wanting to use the same engine/drivetrains throughout the 3 models... but that was a while ago...

time will tell!

The new tC sucks....looks are the same and its only a lb. lighter....if they really wanted to make a moddable type car....take out the glass roof all together and save a ton of weight from that...add upgraded clutch flywheel and LSD and you have a car ready to be made into a N/A or FI with some engine work and plenty of your own personal touch modding (race seats, interior, lights, Body Kit etc.)....not sure where they wanted to really go with this new tC but a tuner car get real.....its a stripped down tC that WEIGHTS the same....worthless

Yeah I looked up the specs against 05'-06' and the only difference really is the horsepower and gas mileage is higher (1hp, 1mpg) probably because of the smaller wheels. Less weight, more power. Sorry the copy is messed up,but you can tell the stats are 07' first then 06'.

the 1hp/1mpg isn't because of the wheels. its because of the engine stuff they changed.

the 2007 tC is exactly the same as the 2006, except the updated exhaust manifold and MAF sensor.
its the A-spec tC that has all of the stuff taken out of it and like 1.5k cheaper.

and i know they are getting rid of the xA/xB thats why I said that it would be on the xA/xB replacements :P

Chime ... I'm here, well as far as the xB, go to that thread we are already discussing the new xB in there. The Spec tC is a start. Understand that to include true performance parts in any car from factory require a shitload of testing and government approvals, thats why no auto company can take an existing model and offer a new model with upgraded parts. The Mazdaspeed line and the SRT for example were in development in conjunction with the actual sub models and therefore were released as such.

Scion wants YOU to make monsters out of these, not thier version of a performance car. As a dealer I'm loving it, because we can mod the hell out of these and still keep them to within $2k of a stock car with a shitload of aftermarket parts, useful ones. As we speak we are prepping one as an all TRD car. The manifold change really blows, because it screwed with the supercharger, and I think they are kicking themselves in the ass right now for having to retool the SC kit to accomodate the '07 models. But other than that, true tuners, change the wheels, race with the roof closed, change the steering wheel, change the seats and add engine goodies that force you to eliminate half the engine bay.

So there are your Spec changes. Hey at least they are listening and trying, thier bound to get it right eventually.

^^ exactly

they should have "modded" the new MAF sensor to fit into the current intakes and such.
cuase now not only do they need to redo the S/C but they have to refit the intakes and turbos too.

Dumb question. wuts spec tc mean?

One thing they didnt do was try to lighten the car.....one of our biggest problems when it comes to being able to race is our 500lb roof....i love it but for a true Tuner car....no glass roof is necesessary

Dumb question. wuts spec tc mean?

It's Scion's "Tuner" model of the tC - comes with more basic stuff so that you won't feel as bad when you mod it.... like... the wheels are steelies....

I wonder why they havent tried like a lexan roof? I would think that lExan is stronger and it seems to be able to resist melting in heat

Maybe its just me but in my opinion the spec tC= gay. It just doesn't seem very cost effective to opt for it. But like I said maybe its just me.

perhaps. . . .

per someones earlier comments, it's not looking like the supercharger will be converted to work on 07 and 08 models, sorry guys.

actually its looking just as likely as they are making one for the 07s as it looks like that they are not.
