New Scikotics Des Moines Logo

Hey all! I think it's about time we get a Des Moines specific Scikotics logo. I want everyone's input that is interested in putting ideas in. I think after we get some more ideas Spike and I are going to try to work it out for approval by you all first, then it'll go up to Uncle Unix for final approval.

The ground rules for this type of design are that we CANNOT change the Scikotics logo itself. It is a copyrighted and trademarked logo. The other rule is that any other wording cannot be more than 50% of the size of the actual Scikotics wording. Outside of that, it is free game!

The ideas that I had were:

1. Get the downtown Des Moines skyline popping up behind the Scikotics with Des Moines in smaller lettering either above or below that.

2. Put the 515 in the mix by reversing one of the '5's so that it is symmetrical as a background for the Scikotics logo.

I have other ideas, but I want to see what you all have as well! Post them up and we can take a vote after we have some mocked up!

I agree with it being time to alter the logo. I personally really like it with the skyline - but it needs to be altered.

Two things to consider:
1 > Check out the requirements for sizing of the Scikotics logo and chapter name.

2 > May want to talk to Amy - I did a graffiti drawing of "515" and apparently some version of it is a gang logo? As a teacher, she knows what tags to look for to see if kids are in gangs. :) I thought it was goofy, but I don't want to get shot for wearing a gang tag!

Man that is some BS! The 515 thing is pretty big actually. I went to a 515 car show, there is 515Alive, etc. We just be reppin'! Haha!

I think it's cool - I like how some chapters do that. I think as long as it isn't like, the main focus of the logo, it's fine.

I personally looooove asymmetrical designs. If not up for that, I like how we have "Scion of Des Moines" on the back of the shirt. Since I'm not sure if they'll be able to help us out (talk to Dan), I think putting something back there is still cool. I don't know what, but something.

I'll look through my photobucket and see what I have saved - because I had some sweet backgrounds of DM that I might be able to just get the outline. Unfortunately, I'm no photoshop genius - so will need to enlist someone else.

Is Spike pretty good at stuff like that? If you guys need a little extra help - I know Stephanie can do photoshop - she's designed our local tagging cards and other stuff in the past. :up:

I don't have the Des Moines logo. It simply had Des Moines in an oblong oval over the regular Scikotics logo I believe. I'm in the process of getting the actual vector file for the Scikotics logo. Nick do you have an email I can send it to for you?

They are all showing up, the issue is on Kelsi's end, not yours. Yep, looking nice, you can always call the DM gang unit of the PD to make sure you are not using known local gang insignia. You really do want to avoid that at all costs. Not that someone will shoot you, but it will give a bad impression and the PD will notice it and keep a closer eye on you as well.

Yep, now I can see them and I like them! Perhaps the outline of the skyline can be the same color scheme as the Scikotics in the foreground?

I guess I had never seen that shirt before and I actually really like that design...but in the spirit of changing things up a bit, maybe we should explore the capitol. I like that image of the capitol building and the other ones would make cool images for shirts or something too!

I love the skyline too.

Another thing that I dig is the outlines of the cars. I think SL has the outline on their site, but I haven't been on there in a while.

Unfortunately, now you have 5 cars instead of 3, so it might get a little congested!

I think these were the best. Simple, to the point, and original enough to make it stand out. Honestly it's my Favorite Sciko shirt. I wear it regularly.

I agree in the simplicity area. I like them simple.

I DO think it's time for a new design though. My biggest thing is I'd like to see it bigger so you can see SCIKOTICS easier.

I'm a fan of the skyline as buildings are more permanant then the models of cars, especially since we are about to get 2 new models increasing the count to 7. The skyline helps point out where we are from.

P.S. Every other club shirt I've seen of the Scikos has been white text and pic on a black background. It just kinda seems fitting to keep it that way to me but i'm just one person.

Hmm... I just had a thought. We could do the Des Moines Scikotics thing like the oldie but goodie...but then put the skyline upside down from the bottom of the word Scikotics with that outline of the cars that Kelsi posted up earlier. It will look like "Scikotics" is sitting on a puddle and in the reflection of the puddle will be the Scions and the cityscape.

This will show that our cars are a reflection of us and our city.

That looks awesome! Could we also have the inverse available so that the skyline is an outline and the Scikotics is filled in? I want to make sure that the word Scikotics is still the main focus.

Ok so i wasnt really feeling the skyline outline. So i took a pic and did some editing and tracing in illustrator. This logo would work well on a black shirt and it would also keep the cost down by being only 2 colors. Let me know what you think.
