Some Owners wanted to defeat the seat belt reminder alarm (me too) . . .
If you want to temporarily disable your seatbeltalarm. This system allows the seat belt alarm to be disabled when the switch is actuated, until the key is turned off, Automatically resetting so the next time the key is turned on, the alarm is again enabled. A simple manualy switched version is also shown on the left sideof the wiring diagram. (The BLUE LINED ONE) I prefer the Auto-Reset one coz I will forget to swith it back to normal, and we'll get a $92 Ticket for not using a seatbelt !!!
What You Need:
1 momentary contact switch (or an on-off switch if you do not want the auto-reset)
2 wires that reach from your switch location to the spliced connections
1 - 2.2k ohm resistor (Radio Shack) red-red-red color bands
1 - 12v DPDT Relay (Radio Shack)
If you want to, you can eliminate the relay, but the system will not automatically reset.
How to:
1. Remove the center console.
2. Locate the wire on the side of the passenger seat near the console. (Seatbelt buckle)
3. Cut away some of the loom to expose the wires (There are 2).
4. Separate the wires into a workable length and strip the insulation on each (Stagger them).
5. Connect the 2 wires you need and attach to stripped sections, and insulate them.
6. Connect a 2.2k ohm resistor on one of the wires that you connected.
7. Connect the other end of wire and the resistor to the switch.
8. Insulate all your connections (I recommend using heat shrink tubing).
9. Test the operation to make sure everything is ok (put a weight or sit on passenger seat)
10. Prepare switch mounting hole. I installed mine but hidden (Under the E-Brake handle).
11. Reassemble the console and mount switch, etc.
That's it . . . .You're Done! :toast:
