Has anyone tried these in a tC? http://www.pulstarplug.com/
They make some wild claims and they are pricey at $25 per plug, but if they do what they say $100 would be worth it.

Interesting plugs....curious what everyone thinks??

YOU WOULD THINK IT WOULD BE BULL%@^# BECAUSE HOW DOES A SPARK PLUG AMPLIFY (SPELL?) YOUR IGNITION SPARK WITHOUT CHANGING VOLTAGE AND SUCH. THEY ARE CLAMING TO INCREASE PROFORMANCE, AND IT MIGHT WORK. I WOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT THE LONG TERM USE OF THESE PLUGS. WHOS TO SAY YOU PUT THESE IN YOUR CAR AND THE HUGE RESISTANCE THAT COMES WITH THE PLUG COULD DAMADGE YOUR COILS. I MYSELF USED NIPPON DENSO THE FACTORY STUFF, BECAUSE USUALLY WITH IGNITION ITS REALLY TOUCHY IF YOU WILL SO I GUESS UNTIL YOU FIND SOMEONE WHO HAS TRIED THEM, YOUR THE TEST PILOT!

This is one thing they say off there site.."CAUTION: Pulstar model recommendations are for stock, unmodified engines. If you have added an aftermarket turbocharger, supercharger, nitrous or any other product that increases displacement or compression to your engine you will require a colder heat range pulse plug in order to avoid possible damage to your engine."
Crap, I was hoping I didn't have to be the test pilot...

I spent $400+ on an MSD ignition setup on my accord, and the only difference I noticed was 2-3mpg in fuel economy. No noticeable power gains. This seems like the same basic idea for much cheaper. Ignition power really doesn't make much of a difference in power - it's mostly fuel economy and help keeps you stoichiometric. That's about it.

did you upgrade the fuel and cam shaft in your accord? if you didnt do that then its normal only to get a lil more mpg. if you dont upgrade your fuel and intake/exhaust profile (camshaft) you wont notice much at all. igniton upgrades are more suitable for heavily modifed vehicles. sometime in some chevy applications you can get better throttle response when you upgrade igniton. these sprak plugs might be great but there is more to the plug than the manufacture wants to say. one time i went to the swap meet flea market whatever you wanna call it and they were selling this ignition amplifiers, all you had to do was move the coil wire attach this module to the wire then to the coil. i bought one and through it on the ground to bust these guys out. all there is is a penny inside. the copper somehow makes the spark hotter which sometimes is the enemy in turbo/supercharged applications. i think thats the same thing as the coil amplifier thing. good luck let me know how it works!

Don't bother. Just go with regular plugs. Iridium (required if you've got a tC) are the best.

the msd ignition was a preemptive mod for my accord - I planned on buying cams and valve train components, but the car died before I got a chance. I knew what I was buying and didn't expect much out of the box.
Do you think I should take my Nology Hotwires off now that I have the turbo?

i dont think that you should have an issue with the wires becasue all your doin when upgrade the wire or boot in our case, is basicall allowing more electrical flow. im sure you have heard this before but imagine this, you have a golf ball and a garden hose and the ball doesnt go through, now you hve upgraded to a pvc pipe now thw ball goes through easily. the only thing you should do if you havent done it yet is replace the factory plug with a colder spark plugs. it seems by whats listed in your mod list that you have alot of goodies in your ride.:toast:

what do you mean by custom turbo kit? i had a custom turbo kit on my tc and it worked great but i could never get the fuel trim set right. it was always too lean or too rich. i used the split second air fuel controller in looks like you have the greddy unit which is a good unit.:trophy:

Split second is only for partial throttle I believe. That's what Dezod sells for their partial throttle tuning black box.
You need something a bit more hefty in order to get a decent tune.

Custom meaning it didn't come from one place as a complete kit - I bought each part from individual retailers and wholesalers, and put the kit together myself.
The reason I ask about the Hotwires is because they advertise them as sparking 300x hotter than a regular spark plug...

You want the plugs to run COLDER when you're F/I :p

We got off topic here, I guess no one has tried these plugs. I don't disagree that they add benefits, since they were granted a patent. You can't get a patent unless your claims are proven accurate with the technology you are patenting. Just curious if anyone used them within a Scion and saw any difference - fuel economy or a little more peppiness.

Found this article from the Auto Channel about this plugs and again they are stating some claims for fuel ecomony increases as well as torque and HP gains...
Judge for yourself...I am trying them. It is one of the cheaper mods for cars and hell, gas saving over 12 months will pay for these plugs

Personally, I am going to stick with the Denso plugs. The bigger spark doesn't necessarily mean it will ignite more of the fuel particles, it only means that it is less likely to be snuffed out. The size of the spark has very little effect on the amount of power. If your fuel is properly atomized, even a weak spark will ignite the mixture.
Secondly, engines get hot, big surprise there. Electronics don't like heat. The more electronics you cram into something that gets really hot, the more points of failure you have. Conventional spark plugs are very simple and don't really have any circuitry to fail. Voltage goes in the top, arcs to the ground, and it has done it pretty well for the past 100 or so years.
Putting electronics that are responsible for sparking at a precise millisecond in the hottest part of the engine is just asking for trouble. If they spark too late, you'll loose power, too early....well, detonation really isn't that great on your engine.
Granted, I am basing this off my own opinions, but the Denso Iridiums haven't let me down yet.

I know - that's why I asked if I should take the Hotwires off. work with me here, Nick lol

Hmmm so should I ditch my copper core plugs and switch to the iridiums? I've always preferred copper plugs in every car I've owned...but hey if the experts say iridiums, it's to autozone I go!

You should be fine with the wires.. It's just additional power and grounding to them that's all.
TunerTrifecta - Have you looked at the tC Engine? It says "Iridium Spark Plugs Only"!
Autozone may or may not have what you need. OEM plugs yes. 1 or 2 step colder plugs, no.

lol I mustve missed that part. :-P Looks like I'm headin to autozone to go drop 40 bucks on plugs :(

I've got copper core autolite's in it right noiw

Oh ew. Yeah change those out.
Still, plugs shouldn't cost you that much. You can get 1 or 2 step colder plugs for $35-40.

I don't need colder plugs, it's a stock motor with a K&N drop in

anyone got the part number for the stock heat range iridiums?

I know you don't need colder plugs. I was just saying they shouldn't be that expensive.
As for part numbers:

ty :) Either ND's or NGK's will be in on friday! Hopefully that's where my midrange power went! My original 70k plugs were a bit worn and a tiny bit fouled, so I replaced them with the coppers and gained a LITTLE power back, but it's nothing like brittany's tC. Maybe it's the fact that hers only has 9k miles on it and mine has 72k lol
