i dont know how real a system like this is, but in the movie 2 fast 2 furious the cars were outfitted with some sort of an ems that gave you a hud through an in dash lcd screen. does any one know if a system exists like this and if its an add on system or some thing built in to the head unit, i know there are monitoring systems out there that connect to the obd port like the blitz r-vit i-color but the screen is a bit too small to see it while your driving any. i am also curious if there is a pc based system. thanks guys

hmmmm....
i've never encountered one, and i take everything in those movies with a grain of salt, cause deep down i know those cars don't have upwards of 8 gears and nitrus doesn't burn like that.

I saw something like it earlier today. My stepbrother is a mechanic (can fix anything with a motor) that I turned into a techy. He use to HATE tech stuff & computers.
So he came by all excited about something he has been toying with. He had his laptop (Toshiba running Windows XP SP2) mounted in his Range Rover and told me to take a seat. He turned it on and these digital gauges were displayed on his laptop. He could monitor anything going on with his RR with the laptop! Up to 28 gauges could be pulled up for any function. He then hit a key and his GPS map was displayed.
After that, he asked if I noticed anything else.? After a quick look, I said no....and he asked me where the wires were.
Upon looking, there were none. :ponder:
He said it was all done with Bluetooth!!
Pretty cool stuff!
This is just his toy, but I bet there are other versions of stuff like this out there.

F.A.S.T. XFI system. Everything is controlled and monitored via laptop. My dad runs it in his GN and it is a PHENOMENAL stand alone ecu. LOTS of tuning required though.
