ECU for Fisrt Gen Xb

Im getting mixed answers from my local dealers when trying to verify if any ECU from 2004-2006 Xb will work in my 2004 Xb. I assume they will as long as the ECU is from the same transmisson type. The dealer however told me i have to have the same exact ECU produced for my year vehicle which i found odd since every other car i have owned i could innerchage parts from the same generation. So i guess im looking for someone to verify i am correct in that I can for sure use any ECU from my generation Xb first gen, as long as the transmission type is the same. Thanks

I know there were small changes in 06, dont know if that will affect the ECU or not.

Some small changes were made in 06 so to play it safe get one from a 04-05 all those are the same. And yes make sure it's for your type of transmission.

By the way, why do you need a new one?

I don't know where you are planning on sourcing, but be sure to check ebay. I scored an '06 xB ECU for MT on there a couple weeks back for $15.99, SHIPPED, and it worked great!
