I got everything installed and working great, exept the head unit I have has a safety mechanism. It will not allow video display while the parking brake is down. Now, I know there is an override of some sort because I've seen the unit on display and working in stores. I have not connected the parking brake cable yet because the manual says "if the parking brake cable is connected, the parking brake must be engaged".
Here's my dilema. I'm getting no video at all regardless of the parking brake position. Any ideas?

As far as I know all you need to do is ground that wire.

Actually it depends on the HU. Alpines need a "black box" to ground it. Kenwoods have a single "e-brake" wire.. I just grounded mine and it works fine.

ok, i tried grounding it and no luck which is confusing the shit out of me because i talked to the guy at tech support and he says i need to connect it to the parking brake ground cable!!!!
SO, if i'm supposed to hook into a ground, shouldn't grounding it work?!?!?
in know jack about electronic crap so pleeeeeease some help?

Make sure you grounded it to a paintless surface... ANd the end of the wire has a nice ring crimped on

OK Jorge, judging by the wiring diagram that you posted, it looks like you need a + and - to be able to see it while driving. The green / white will go to the neutral swtich, while the pink be ground it, the pink is the one that suppose to go to the e-brake.
I THINK that you can get the green / white to the ACC yellow wire, then just ground the pink one, it should work like that, unless is looking for a 5v reference rather than a 12v, in which case you will have to find a constant 5v then tap into that, then the pink.. well you know.

Fuck Jorge you are making me think. OK, the green / white wire is for the reverse camera, so lets ignore that for now. The Pink wire is what needs to be ground it. Now, first we need to make sure the ground is good. then once you have done that, then you need to do the "sequence" per the manual.
Parking Brake
Parking Brake Inhibit
When the pink "Parking" wire is connected to the vehicle
brake switch, the front TFT monitor will display video only
when the parking brake sequence is engaged. Before starting
the parking brake sequence, the radio must be on with the
video media disc inserted and playing.
Parking Brake Sequence
There are two situations that can start the Parking Brake
Sequence:
? Parking brake is engaged (on) when the vehicle is started
or the accessory/ignition is turned on. To activate video,
the following sequence of events must be completed:
a. Release parking brake for 2 seconds.
b. Reapply the parking brake for 2 seconds.
c. Video should be displayed on the TFT monitor within 1
~ 2 seconds.
? Parking break is disengaged (off) when the vehicle is
started or the accessory/ignition is turned on. To activate
video, the following sequence of events must be
completed:
a. Set parking brake for 2 seconds.
b. Release parking brake for 2 seconds.
c. Reapply parking brake.
d. Video should be displayed on the TFT monitor within 1
~ 2 seconds.

Oh you got one of the tough ones that require a sequence... Yuck.

Yeah, it's one of those. But what's got me all bent out of shape is, if the sequence is required, then how in the hell do they set it up at the store for their display?? That thins has NO parking brake....LOL.
So ther has to be a way around it. Here's what I was thinking. The brake switch has two cables, one is ground, the other is hot. When the brake is on, the circuit is completed so there is some voltage runing on the ground wire thet is detected by the unit to allow the screen to be viewed.
So, IF that is the case, then connecting to the hot wire should allow the unit to play, right? Even if the sequence is done, it will just tell the unit that the brake is on when it is actually off.
Thoughts?

What you can do is buy a "black box" unit off of ebay.. It will ground to that box and the box itself will do the combination whenever your car's turned on.

Thanks, I'll look into that.
I tried connecting what I thought was the hot side of the circuit but did not work. I have one more idea to try tomorrow. I'm going to run a wire from the brake ground to a switch then from the switch to the unit. We'll see.

OK, here's what i'm trying today. If anyone has any input on this, please let me know.
The lower connections is how it is now, the upper ones is what I'm thinking of. Pink is the e-brake wire, red is the hot wire going to the brake switch. Black is grnd which is actually a screw that goes into the switch.

I searched for black box, bypass switch, bypass box, switch, dvd bypass switch, etc. and no luck. Do you know what I should search for in ebay? Thanks.

Look for "Video Bypass" - that might work... i don't know.
But... if you wired in a toggle switch it would work, too.
Ground one end of the toggle switch and then the other end of the switch to the pink wire. Put in the DVD,the blue screen will come up telling you you cant watch the movie while driving.Flip the switch UP,DOWN and then back up again and you should be fine..
One catch though, when you go to get out of the car, flip the switch back in the DOWN position..
(found this on a forum).

sorry it took so long...i'm on my way to south TX. Yes, I got it and it worked perfect. Similar to what Krdshrk posted. I figured out I need to do the sequence with the parking brake, then once I have image, flip the switch and it stays on after lowering the brake.
Thanks for everyone's help with this. I'll try to write a "How to" to add to the tech section. (Although it's really not very hard...LOL)
