I drive an AT . A local tuner shop says they can get another 4-5mpg of it. Now I have known forever about getting the car tuned for speed, and I heard about "de-tuning" it.

But my question is, are those little "chips" you can buy for like 2-300$ worth it as well? Can anyone enlighten me at all about this stuff?

Chips are a waste of money our ecu will relearn and counter act the chip. Our ecu won't hold a tune unless you can find someone that can reflash the ecu

Still my favorite quote is;

"Adjust the nut behind the wheel"

I drive for mpg's with my xD, its an RS1. You are a slight disadvantage with your automatic transmission, however I have been able to hold a lifetime average of over 43mpg with my d. I have experienced spikes in that average as high as 47mpg tank average and down to 40mpg tank average during the winter fuel blend months ...

The key is how you drive, not necessarily what you drive.

If you want to improve friction loses which will increase your mpg's by at least 1-2, replace your oil with synthetic and your tranny fluid as well. I reccomend Amsoil, but thats just me.

My only mods are;

Lowered
Tires inflated to max sidewall, which in my case is 52 psi.

Future Mods;

Amsoil Synthetic blends for my oil and tranny ....

you can verify my claims by going to www.fuelly.com looking up the Scion xD's and viewing my logs under Evil Pumpkin.

Laterz,
