Ok im going to try and make a long story short....here we go......

A while back I Installed a $60 ebay intake (yeah I know thats my problem but bare me) After installing I took it for a drive and well the inner fender liner fell off my car and I crushing it, so no liner......BTW if anyone has one for sale ;)

So ive been driving for a bit without a liner on my car and a CAI installed, BAD IDEA, had a huge rain storm, drove through a puddle, stalled, check engine light came on, took it to toyota and they replaced my $385 O2 sensor....everything back to normal.

YEAH RIGHT.....last couple of days its been raing, and no STILL no liner (don worry im looking for one now, and have learned my lesson) driving from dover to new castle (1 hr drive) car starts to sputter around 70 and the check engine lights blinks then stays on......OK ive finally had it!!!! Next day bought a new filter, which was the wrong size, so i used the one that was on there before, and decided to make the CAI ito a SRI to get it away from the ground and water while i look for a liner......

Installed the SRI and after starting the car noticed this piece, the one he has his hands on and is instaling.....

http://www.scionlife.com/tech/images/aem_intake2_tc/28.jpg

is ticking/clicking/tapping whatever you want to say, but its doing it slow, then eventually started getting fatser, no check engine so I decided to drive home, still no check engine light.

Next morning went to work, not but 2 mins check light comes on, Damnit and that part is still clicking.....have a friend use his obd II scanner and its the P2195 or somehting but its the sensor AGAIN hasnt even been a month since hey changed the one on the headers fromt the last rain BS, So i had him clear to see if the SRI was the fix....drove home (30 mins away) nothing. so I figured I had it solved 2 hours later got in my car to drive to my GF house, not but 2 mins and the light is on AGAIN!!!!!! ALSO when i step on the gas from start, at low rpms the car will putter a very little (sorta like a spark plug wire is loose) and its fine after like 2500 rpms

SO, now that you finally are cought up heres my questions....

1. What is that part, and why is it tapping or making a time bomb click??

2. Whats going on with the light and the repeted sensor pop up??

I plan on getting the liner, a new filter, drying everything out, clearing the code and seeing if that works, if not back to toyota!!!

Please HELP, and im sorry for the LOOOOOOONG post!!!!

that thing always ticked, your just now noticing it since your having issues.

and yea if you let water get in there, normally with the fender liner its no problem but if its open and raning as bad as you say, yes you leave yourself open for problems, you should be lucky that your MAF isnt wats getting screwed up.

Ive never noticed it ticking, but you could be right since I dont know. BUT is this normal for it to be ticking and to have went faster after a few minutes starting the car?

And now that the CEI light is on, what do I do now?

well like i said it always ticked and will always tick.

and if the CEL light is on then of course you need to go get it checked as soon as you can.
letting too much water cascade its way through your engine is not a good thing.

Don't feel bad. My tC got flooded a long time ago.

When we got it back up and running I was like OMG its making a ticking noise wtf is going on???

But yea thats normal. Every TC does it.

its the vacuum switching valve. its an emmissions control do-hicky, lol

on stock intakes, all that rubber and the gigantic resonator sticking out the side muffle it up and you dont really hear it, but with intakes your usually attaching it to a big amplifying peice of metal.

hopefully after sucking up water you replaced the spark plugs?
It does sound like that may be the cause of the low end sputtering.
Were your coil packs hit by water during that storm? I'm guessing no but I'd figure I'd ask anyway.

But anyways, replace your spark plugs and report back here.
I'm not sure if our cars require a certain kind of plug (ie iridium).
i have heard that the corolla motors do require iridiums and seeing how our motors are a modified version of those motors it may be the case with the tC.
Check your users manual to make sure. And dont buy from the dealer. They rip you off hardcore.

mass airflow sensor .... .guarantee fix.... that happened tomine and thats wat was wrong. the reason they automatically replaced the o2 is that fact that is just more expensive for you or whoever had to pay to replace it..... go in a buy a mass airflow sensore put it in and guarantee it will fix that sputtering at the beginnning

or get a MAF sensor cleaner kit and try to clean it out first.

OK no i didnt cange the plugs, ar they something you can find at a local store? ie autozone, pepboys, or do they have to be ordered, and how much?

The MAF sensor, what do they run, and also can you buy them at a local store?

Nick the leaning kit, same question, local shop? and how much? and how to you clean it?

I was going to go to my local scion shop and have them look at it, and see it they can also replace the ineer liner under warranty!

Thanks for the advice everyone, I really needed the help, BTW I did fid something out from a friend of mine, it seems that between 25-30% throttle is when it sputters, after and before its fine!

plugs are usually cheap. yes you can get them anywhere. If you have a few tools you can change it yourself.

MAF sensor is pretty damn expensive. I can sell you one for around $130-140 new if you need one or cant find one around in local stores.

Yeah MAF is expensive. Maf cleaner is cheap - like $20 a can and you can get it from any auto store.

Any auto store should have the OEM plugs too.

this has happened to me before you can buy the maf cleaning stuff it wont work... our maf are way to sensitive for it...... but hey 20 bucks worth the try..... but for sure the maf will need to be replaced..... to get rid of the sputter.... or if you keep your car in high enough rpms you wont even know the sputter exsists

i know the pre-2007 MAFs were easy targets for failure, and thats a reason they changed them.
but honestly im surprised i haven't screwed mine up.
