I just thought I would share that I raced and beat a corvette today.

60mph rolling start - I jumped ahead by 2 car lengths (maybe so he could give me a head start...?) and the poor guy never caught back up - Hit my speed limiter before he made it back to my rear bumper. He had a badass magnaflow exhaust too - I LOVE corvettes!

I'm sure he would have eventually passed me, since they're geared for 170mph+, but I made it from 60-127 faster than he did. I would love to race one in the quarter. The one I raced was an 03 model...

350hp LS1
14.2 @ 102mph

And who says Scions weren't made to be fast? I'm running 7.5psi with no tune. Trust me - it loves the power as much as I do.

14.2 @ 102mph? Is that your time? That is pretty slow for a vette isn't it

If you have any Scikotics vinyl on your car, you need to represent the club by acting responsible on the roads. Racing on public roadways is not only dangerous for you, but for everyone else on the roads as well. It doesn't matter how good of a driver you are, accidents happen. Keep it on the track, it is safer and you have proof of your kills.

you're right, shame on me...

I would have raced him from a dig, but I didn't have that luxury.

And vette's run 14.2 stock - 350hp isn't very much for 4000lbs of car. the 6spd dyno's approximately 315whp stock.

By my estimate (since I haven't been to the track...sorry Thansenite), I run between a 13.5 and a 14. That's based on cars that I've raced from a dig on the street, and comparing their stock drag times from dragtimes.com.

The new eclipse gt runs a 14.4 stock, and I beat them by car lengths.

was it an actual race...like with a 3 honk start? Or did you just pull up to a vette, rev, and then take off without him realizing you might actually beat him before he floored it?

I lined up next to an Aston Martin yesterday honked three times and then took off. I beat him by many car lengths. He probably would have had a better chance if there was actually a driver in the car.

Hmm...that reminds me. I need to find someone that can fabricate a metal piece that connects to the drivers headrest and the passenger headrest that will allow me to mounts a camera.

no three honks - he took off before I did. He started the race - I just beat him.

As for my setup - I have 7.5psi, no tune, stock injectors, and stock exhaust...the turbo is a 57trim t3/t4 .63a/r (compressor and turbine). I'll have it tuned in a couple weeks after I get paid.

Hmm...that reminds me. I need to find someone that can fabricate a metal piece that connects to the drivers headrest and the passenger headrest that will allow me to mounts a camera.

Do what I do for my racing videos. Get a normal camera tripod. In the back seat, extend 2 of the legs down to the floor, and the third leg straight back. You can actually push the 3rd leg into the gap between the upper and lower rear seat sections. Extend the 3rd leg all the way and brace the entire tripod forward a little against the front seats. Then you can mount your camera on top and take video. This should work for any digital camera or video camera.

I guess I didn't think it would be sturdy enough to sit there... but I guess it is.

A lot of people have taken a square tubing, drilled holes in it to match the poles in the headrest, then stuck the pole between the seatback and headrest, so the pole extends between the seats, then you can mount a video camera there - They used a screw that fits the tripod mount on the bottom of the camera, and screwed it through a hole drilled at the end of the square tubing, into the bottom of the camera. Get creative - nick's way is much less labor-intensive. It's up to you.
