looks like the one I posted a little while back, accept that was my paint shop version of a drop top tC :P haha that is one way to get rid of that horrid looking roof.... now bring back the waterfall inside and make a few more mods to the interior like the seats and then on the front like the bumper and grill and you might get me :P

Ok, thought....if they do this with the 2012 Scion tC, do you think it can be carried over to the 1st Gen tC?

hmmmm not sure, it might be easier to get one of those companies that do convertable conversions to do something like that... i know there was one that did the new beetle when it came out way back when...

No it would be all custom and are better off getting a one off convertible made instead. To make a 2 door coupe a convertible involves a lot of reinforcement that you would never think of. Just watch that episode of Street Customs when they made the Convertible Challenger for Chopper. They had templates and hardware for the swap and it still took 4 guys and 3 days to "bolt" it on. Now try to do it with out all of that and you are looking at the same price as buying a 2012 tC convertible instead.

^ Yeah, West Coast Customs quoted $20k for a sotftop and $25k for a hardtop.

"If the car makes it into production, it would not only be the first Scion convertible, but will also be the only convertible sold at Toyota/Scion dealers"
That isn't quite true.. When I was buying my tC they tried talking me into a convertible Solara.

The Solara Convertible was discontinued last year that's why it would be the "only convertible sold at Toyota/Scion dealers"

interesting...i guess it would makes sense since toyota doesn't have a convertible out right now. Personally, I'd like to see this go to market

I am fine with them doing a convert model but they need to clean up the ass end of the new tC and also mod the dash back to the waterfall style... do that and you can call it the tCC for all I care it would make it look better.. and might be worth it if it was not $$$$

Naw bro, go with what I called it back when I was designing a convertible 1st Gen tC called the CtC. I do agree with the cleaning up of the back end. I hope they release some TYC tails, but that 5 Axis really cleaned up the back look nicely!

haha they can call it to tCGOLD for all I care, just if they do a convert model and get a chance to fix this flop design they need to clean up the ass and interior on that machine... the convert will take care of the horrid roof haha.... yes TYC tails would be nice :)

You know, they should make it start at $20k and do a hardtop convertible! In the end, out the door, it'll be like $22k or $23k.

I like the convertible. I like it a lot. But it doesn't get me excited enough about Scion to purchase it.
The next purchase will be for the Wife anyway.

Just my opinion here (of course).. but im already not a fan of the new "tc" for next year.. but as much as they boast "harder edges" to make it more appealing to guys, making a convertible kicks it back to looking like a girls car again. Doesn't really look like a sports car anymore (either way) looks more boxy outside, and plain inside. i'm just not liking it too much. I'll just say that I'm glad i bought my tc when i did (2006). And by the way, while we were at "new dimension of scion" they mentioned something about having a "sportier" new model, like the tc but a new model for the scion line. That's all they'd say. IF this does happen, hopefully they'll catch up with other imports and break the 200hp mark. OR start making parts that are CARB LEGAL so we dont all get pulled over for trying to be unique or put some power to our ride. I was promised a $4,000 ticket just cuz my header and exhaust were not carb legal. No turbo, No Supercharger, No Exhaust.. just header and intake. I wasn't racing etither. The chp was profiling my car, and got lucky.

@ Kid Morbid
Solara was no longer made after its '08 model. It was a used car, or ridiculously old new one.

Yep, they have a sportier new vehicle lined up... Check out the Scion FR-S. RwD, 2.0 boxer motor rumored to push about 220 hp at the crank. Should be a pretty sweet ride.
