Well, recently I was driving home from the cities (about an hour drive) and I lost my power steering during the ride. I checked everything and noticed that my belt was slipping. I recently swapped the engine and I did install the belt with the groves on the outside. Stupid, right? But after I changed the belt that I got from the dealership. And after driving for a few miles, I lost my power steering again. Well, this time I made sure that the belt was on there correctly. Now, I got a different belt from the local parts store and guess what. After the installation and driving several miles this belt snapped. Now, I don't know what the #### is going on. I ordered a new belt again, but I am afraid it will snap, slip, come off too. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Sven

If it isn't the tension like Don suggested, you might want to check the actual alignment of the pulleys. If they are misaligned for any reason the belt will fly off under higher rpms. .... just a thought. I had this problem with a motor swap on my S10.

that was gonna be my next suggestion kevin...

also.. even though it is a pulley... is it on straight or is it crooked.. maybe the pulley is out of balance

or maybe you need to get a belt that is after market? lol if they even have an after market belt......just change all your pulleys

I know Gates makes aftermarket belts for us, you still running a 1NZE FE (stock), or something different now?

I am still running the 1NZ engine. I noticed that the brackets is not straight anymore. This must have happened after removing it from the engine when I did the swap. Tonight I am going to straighten it up and see if that's the cause of my "car" issues. After that I will be finishing the door panels and the gauge cluster. The car needs to be done before noon tomorrow. The madam of the house is coming back from a trip to NY.

BTW, thank you all for the replies. I appreciate it.
