I have been researching info on a DRL and find many of them are running lower power on filament bulbs so HIDs won't tolerate that. However, I have installed hi intensity/multiple leds in my parking light sockets and they are just about bright enough for DRLs and since my fogs are tied to the parking light wiring, I now have DRLs, FOGS and HIDs working in harmony. The DRLs run without the tails illuminated so they are like the "Factory" ones. I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but after its complete I can post the DIY. Presently my DRLS just go off when I turn off the motor, but an addition of a pulse relay timer will allow the DRLs to continue for a period up to 3 minutes. You could also wire the HIDs to light and be timed without using the parking lights if you so desired. Lemme know what you think and also what you think of using the parking lamps as a DRL. I am quite sure that there are brighter lamps available for the 194s that can be found, but not sure if they can be put through the parking lamp holes. The LED DRLS I have now require just removing 2 wires from a socket, and adding the joined pair to another (all in the fusebox). ZERO$ (without timer) :dots:
Absolutely want to see the set up and a DIY with pics if possible! Nice idea, the xD really needs Daylight Running Lights, so you don't have to use the headlights all the time... Thanks Bobo!

I have now some 28LED jobbies in the housing, but just orderd these (36)to see if they make any difference in luminance...

Will keep U all posted. :Faim17:
Installed those 36 LEDs today and they ARE BRIGHTER !
We'll see how long they last . . . . .
I think if you instal a flux capacitor and run it off "0" gauge we should be able to charge bikini clad ladies for a tan at shows!

Installed the 36 count LEDs
You said the LEDs did not fit and you had to enlarge the opening in the HL assembly. Do you recall what size drill bit or how exactly you enlarged the opening? Wasn't covered in the DIY, unless I just missed it...

Huh?
I didn't mention, nor did I drill the housing to insert the LEDs !
If you read it, it must have been a different DIY, and I migt want to explore that, too ! The 36's are brighter, but not standout bright...
It's O.K. but if ther is something I can do that's better, I'm all ears !
please direct me to that. link ?
Thanks!
No, it was one of your posts, must have still been contemplating it and were not sure if the bulbs would fit, it's cool that you don't have to change anything to run these...
