I read on one of the forums that some here(?) was running a 235 0r 244 x 50 tire on the rear of thier XB2???
I would think at stock height you might be ok. if you keep to 40+ offset or better?
I wonder about clearnce if it is dropped?
Your Thoughts?

245/50 would be pretty big. What is the stock size for the B? 215/45 16?

OEM is 205x55x16
I think you can get away with a little more in the rear due less weight and of course no turning.

The largest Ive ever seen in back of a B would have to be 245/35 and it was big but not too much. I don't know about a 245/50 that be damn huge. I know people run 235/35/19 all day no scrub so idk.

So do you know if the 245/35 rubbed?
If you pug in 245/35x19 and 245/50x18 into this calculator (both wiw/ 8" wide & 40+ OFFSET) http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp?postId=906 (http://www.rimsntires.com/rt_specs.jsp?postId=906)
We see the 245/50 is 2" taller total or 1" closer to the inside top of the fender well.
So you info does help if we know if XB2 you saw rubbed or not and of course if it was dropped.

I took pics it was at a show I was at but I can't find them. Talked to the guy for a while tho he said that it didnt rub but im not sure what suspensin he was on but he was slightly dropd by my guess it was TRD, it was a big ass wheel and tire setup to say the least. Im on 19's stock suspension(soon to be air) and 215/35 and I have a good bit of room. I dont think you would be able to spare the room on a 50 series. My sugestion is go to a good tire shop and see if they have the 245/50 set it up next to your can should give you a good idea if your going to have problems, if it gonna rub hard you notice right off the bat since theres no turning in the back thats what I did with mine.
ALSO: my stock 17 had 225/45 plenty of room

A fifty series tire would be pretty tall. I have 235/35/19 dropped with df210's and have no problems. If I have 4 moderately sized people(175lbs each) in the car I may rub a bit on big bumps.

The 245x50x18 would be 1.1" bigger at the top and on each side. If you have time in a day or twolook at your rear tire & wheel well. Do you think there would be space if the tire was 1.1" bigger top & front, bacK? I think without a drop it would

Are you going for a staggered tire look like an old hot rod?

I just had mine on a rack the other day checking clearence's for the heck of it. Without doing a drop they'd probably fit but 245 is a tad bit wider(think it's 24.5mm per inch). I would suspect you may have rubbing issues up front when turning. My only concerns in back would be the inner side of the wheel wells. you could do a different offset but then the wheels may stick out to far.

Kinda like the spawn of Toyko Drift & American Graffiti.
I'm committed to the 50 series tires for the look & ride, just not sure on size. I'm putting 225x50x16s on the back this week, I'm leaving the 205x55x16s up front both are on 7" wide rims. These tire are the same hieght,
I'll post up pics then.
Next step will be a drop.
Then I'll re-evaluate it I could stay with the wheels I have or buy a 17x7.5 wheels for the rear and run 235x50s on the back.
Or, maybe Steelies from Diamond But I can only get 16 & 18 dia. at this time. I was thinking Steelies with either Spyder hubs & rings or Moons. That might require wheel well surgery???

the one thing I'm failing to see anyone ask here is "are you keeping the stock 16 inch size or are you getting different wheels?" that is going to change the answer to your quesion of will it rub or not.

Hate & Fate - See my Post above yours(#11).
You are correct I should have been more accurate eariler in the thread.
I'm going to run Yokohama Advan S4 tires. I only have three 50 series tires as options 225x16, 235x17, 245x18. I have DIP Laser black wheels on now.
So it's either stay with the Lasers:
1)... 205x55x16 (F) & 225x50x16 (R)
2)....225x50x16 (F) & (R)
3)....225x50x16 (F) & 235x50x17 (R)
Or go to the Steelies from Diamond"
4)....225x50x16 (F) & 245x50x18 (R)
Diamond doesn't offer a 17" rim at this time for my XB.

A 225/50/16 fits on the same rims as the stock 205/55/16s and are the same overall diameter (so no issues at all).
I'm running 225/50/16s on my stock steelies, and will run the same on 16x7s whenever I finally get some alloys.

I don't know what "RWD" is??? Would you restate the question with a few more descriptives...:mrb:

Not at this time......I do have some thoughts about running a single lake pipe out the Pass side. Not quiet sure how just yet....It's farther down on the mod list .

RWD= rear Wheel drive. I was just wondering why you want large rubber in the rear?? WOW that doesn't sound right. :muahaha:

good luck man... be sure to beef up your suspension for the heaver rubber...
And you can go as big as you want with either a lift kit or rolling the fenders... I'd say pic a size and see what you wanna do!

Ummmm...Why would I need to beef up the suspension for oversize tires in the rear of a FWD car? I'm confused by that advice???
If you read the thread I'm planning a drop not a lift. I'm not interested in any metal surgery.

the rolling weight of your tires alone will cause extra wear and tear on your suspension... especially if you are riding stock. There is a good 3/5 pound difference between each inch size and the larger you go the heavier it gets. Stock wheel/tires combo weigh in around 18 pounds or so versus my 19s which the wheel alone weighs 26 pounds which is 4 pounds heavier than the 18in version... obviously the wider the wheel the heavier AND more rubber...
Also there is a body torque issue on the drivers side fender of gen 2s that may be affected. I wouldnt go too drastic on the ratio because its not a framed car... but those are my 2 cents

That's the 1st time I've heard of a suspension issue with a heavier tire. I can understand that on the front of a FWD it could be an issue, I don't understand how it would be on the back?
So what exactly would be needed to beef-up the suspension?

So these are the 225x50x16 Yokohama Advan S4 on the rear.

We put a 235x50-17 into the rear wheel well while we had it on the rack. No question it will fit at stock hieght. I think the drop would work but, I don't know how much compresion to expect in the rear on bumps? I'm think the TRD springs.
