View Full Version : rear wiper plug

Ok, so I removed my rear wiper a few months ago. I found a way to plug the hole water tight, with some kind of plastic plug with rubber o rings on either side. Works perfectly, but now the black plastic is fading and the o rings are starting to dry rot, so it kinda looks like shit. I could just replace it again and again, but short of having to bondo and paint it (not enough money), does anyone know of a better plug to use, or maybe even a xb specific one?

If you check out scionlife.com, there is a gent there that makes color matched plugs for both the rear wiper and to cover the keyholes. I forget his name, but should be easy to find.

Here (http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f30/10851-keytechniques-wiper-plug-color-matched-20-a/) is the thread for the rear wiper plug as well.

I have these on the xB and they look GREAT! Click the photo and it will take you the Clubxb's thread about the keyhole ones.

Exact paint match, too.

I went and got one of those metal hole covers from Home Depot. I believe it was 1 1/2". I painted it with some color matched touch up paint and used some silicone sealant on the inside to make it water tight. I think in total it cost me like $6 or $7 dollars including the touch up paint which I wanted to have anyway.

I went to Pep boys and went to HELP section there is a 1 inch metal plug with other sizes in there too. I painted mine with 4 coats of touch up paint. And sealed it with some RTV. Pulled the flanges back and re glued. Looks really good cost about $6.00. Checker also has a HELP section and I believe auto zone does too.

I used it's a generic brand and fits a keyhole it's a bit long on the inside but barely noticeable fits the hole perfect I just went to those audio stores and looked for a camera that fit. You get good quality and its's been holdinng out pretty good considering my subs in the back

I was the tester for the KeyTechniques plug, so its safe to say, I got mine first. It looks like a dead nuts match and is quite durable. Its holding up nicely. No complaints and for $20, its worth it.

Power acoustics brand. Came with the gasket and just added a little silicone just in case but I think it all came out when I put it in cause the seal was incredible. Let me know if you need one I'll get you one for prob. a 100 bones at the by buddies audio shop in town here. All you need is the video cable and the camera is weather proof and color. Picture is great! Have it on my pioneer D3.

Fumanchuz, any chance you could post a pic of your install (or pre-install/during install pics would be even better)? Really interested in one of these for my install.
