This may sound like a dumb question but I have to ask as a "just in case" precaution.
Someone on a thread in SL said that its dangerous to install just 1 of the Hotchkis sway bars... Why?......
---------
TRD puts just the rear sway on cars as a factory option... I know the hotchkis sways are bigger and tighter than TRD... but I wouldn't see how it would be all that much different than putting just the rear hotchkis sway on.
I have the rear hotchkis sway on my car... the front is going to get installed when I get some more free time... cuz its a bitch to intstall..

As far as I know, there is no issue with only having one sway. I have only the rear sway from TRD in and it's fine *knock on wood*. You'll get better handling with front and rear, but its certainly not dangerous.

The only reason I would see is when its wet or udner hard driving conditions... If its on the race setting the rear may get happy and want to come around on ya...

I can deal with that... shoulda known better than to get paranoid over some random statement on SL...
I have my rear sway on the softest setting until I can get the front one on.... then they go on lockdown!

Yea dont worry... Just make sure your tires arent bald... Thats what happen to me back in the day...
SL is over rated and over populated with people that dont take the time to learn just the time to speak.

Mix and matching doesnt matter... But the trd sway bar... is not even as stiff as the hotchkiss on the lowest setting.... Hotchkiss blows it away...
And with the hotchkiss you get a front and....... rear!

Rear sway bar was easy to put on. It it the front you will have problem.
I heard you have to drop the engine to put the front on.
I have Progress rear sway, Took me about 30 minutes.

I installed a set on a guys car today... NO LIFT... IN MY GARAGE... just over 4 hours...
And you have to drop the sub frame... Me I dont take the nuts off all the way on the outer edges... Screw em down... and before the new one goes in take one nut off and place a jack under it... This way you can slip the new one in...
Oh and the hotckiss sway bars are much stiffer then any on the market and have multiple settings.. Also they way less then the stocks....
Honestly theres no reason not to get these sways... Ive ran em on my B and my tc now... they own...

Rear sway only i'd recommend TRD or Progress.
If you're doing Hotchkis, I'd do both so that the whole car is properly setup. I'm sure you could run with just the rear... I'd prefer to do it all around though.

I know I'm late to this thread, but the reason why the hotchkis are in a set is because the rear is so much stiffer then others on the market. I put my rear on one weekend (on the softest settings, closest to the edge) and when I took hard corners, I could feel the rear squat and my front end lift, which stressed the center, and I could hear my roof creaking! But as long as you take it easy and leave it on soft till you get the front on, your fine.
The front is a PITA. Took me and my buddy 8 hours, but we didn't have the breaker bar till after 5 hours! and we are SLOW! Takes me 6 hours to do springs!
Anyway, your gonna LOVE them! and be sure to try out the different settings untill you find what you like. I had to switch the settings when I went from TRD springs to hotchkis springs cause teh hot are stiffer then the trd. but you can mix and match springs shocks and sways not problem. you CANNOT mix a front sway with a different rear sway, they are a matched set.
