Knock Knock, no, not the Joke

Alright, I have this knocking coming from my front left ummm something. I don't know whats doing it. I don't know if its the shock or not, I don't think it is. Because the it doesnt feel any different it just sounds different. It sounds as if something is loose, and when I hit a bump it like slams back. At first i though it was that one of my lugs werent tight, but I checked them and they all are. I'm riding on DF210s on stock struts. I've had them on probably about a year now. Funny thing is, Sunday night i didnt see this pothole, and i hit it. The noise went away. Until yesterday morning...I had to drive down a road that they are resurfacing, and it was bad...it was knocking pretty much the whole time.

I've checked the top mounts because it sounds like they are loose, but they are all tight...Is there anything else I can check before I have to take it to a shop and have them check it out?

My knocking was a bad situation, my only advice, take it to the dealership and have them check it early.. may save you some flow :idea:

Well my knocking was a spun bearing(s). Eventually it did more internal damage and replaced my short block...

When does the knocking occur?

Is the knocking consistant with the pressure being applied to the gas? In other words, does the knocking speed up the faster you go?

If its suspension... make sure the shock is tight on the top nut.... If you have sways check them....

Just remember though, the sounds in the engine bay will travel all around and MAY sound like something else, even though it could be something in another area of the bay...

Also.... take it apart make sure the pieces were installed in the right order...

I know one of mine knocks... but the car doesnt move... and im getting some new stocks for the rear to fix it... It knocks because some pieces were taken out...

:up:Preston take the little rubber cover off the front strut its probably the nut coming loose on the strut

It ended up being something I already though I checked. just like Keith and John said...I didn't realize thats what it was until I looked at the other side and saw how far down the nut on the bolt was...so I tightened it up and voila...no noise...
