I have a design for a custom system for my TC. I want to completely enclose my amps and put in a false floor and Plexiglas so you can see them. My question comes with newer amplifiers, do i need to be worried about them over heating? I plan on having 2 in the area of spare tire, in a box that i built. one for each of 2 10" subs and no more then 500 watts each.

Thanks

no matter what any manufacturer says about heat they all generate heat. and it just gets amplified when they're closed off in an enclosure. always ventilate amps.

I'm looking to do the same thing in my xb2.

i saw on scionlife that someone had made their sub in the floor in the spare wheel well, and it looked super clean.

anyone know if there should be vibration problems, or other than the amp vent problems, if there's anything else i should watch out for? i'm starting this project in about 2 weeks and would appreciate any and all feedback.

links and diy's are always appreciated :-)

Here is what I did with my amp in my first gen xB. Note the small fan that blows air in on the amp from the outside. It went through all summer with high heat without shutting down. some folks even run two, one to blow in and one to blow out in extremely tight conditions.
