View Full Version : Hard Ride made softer

I have some rather hard L/P tires (bone rattling ride) compared to wifey's Yaris HB and I've read some threads about lowering springs that made the ride SOFTER THAN STOCK. Is there anyone out there that can tell me where they acquired these springs and what brand/part# are they, or if it's even possible. :help:
I remember reading that somewhere as well Bobo! Seems like if memory serves me, they were talking about the Tein springs... Seems odd to me though... typically springs are a performance mod, and performance suspension is always going to be tighter and harsher on the bumps. Throw in larger wheels, low profile and it just aggravates that. Be interested in seeing the feedback on this one... I know my TRDs do not make the ride smoother than stock, but that bad boy corners like no tomorrow!

you want to get bouncy springs to compensate for tire ride quality? woudlnt it make more sense to just get better tires? i ran a 225/35/19 on my tC and didnt have a "hard" ride that i could blame on the tires....
if you want bouncy tho, just cut one coil off all the springs...

Thanks Kary,
Yup, more and more I read about them being soft riding...

I don't know if there is something like it for xD, but a couple guys in YourSciontC.com compiled a suspension chart. I think they just searched around or called companies to get their information. It shows spring rates, drop rate, etc. Maybe a good project for someone. ;)

Being that the site seems to be dead and no signs of revival, How about posting it here? I'm sure a bunch of us could use the fruits of your endeavor !

or maybe you should just start posting on there to make it look busy to more xD owners?
the last post on there in more then 1 forum was yesterday how does that seem dead to you? maybe you dont realize that the type of person who buys an xD and then looks for a community to mod them with is rather small. so small that a section on a forum is all that is really needed. BUT Shaggy was nice enough to give us a WHOLE forum just to ourselves. so it may not look as booming as scikotics or scionlife but theres just a lot less people welcome there as it is a MUCH narrower focus group.

I wouldn't see any reason to not compile one and post it over here. Lookat it this way. If people who want to mod cars see more dope Ds rolling around they will buy Ds, mod em, and be on the forums. But in order for people to know what mods to do and how to do them they need the resources easy to find. Putting them in multiple places makes that easier.

Well, Thanks to your comment, I investigated the absence of the login screens and Anything except the top banners on both sites. Seems the kid updated ie7 to ie8 and ie8 CANNOT LOAD THE 2 FORUMS ! I uninstalled and reistalled ie7 and all is well again. Thanks for mentioning that it still was alive ! Now I can see them again

why clutter the internet when people just need to stop using IE... ;)

any update on this? i went to the xd forum but the link and/or info is incomplete/outdated. We need to have an updated chart or list with the springs and spring rates!
and IMO it's better to have the info on the sites that have more traffic so everyone can get informed. although it's nice to have a separate, model specific site, let's face it: the xd forum is a ghost town. at least people who view scikotiks will be informed and the community's strongest network can be made more strong.
