i was in the process of switching my stock battery out with a lightweight battery, and what i believe happened was that the positive terminal touched metal and caused the engine to shut off while running. now my engine will not start even with using different batteries. the only thing that works on the car is the battery light and the oil light on the dash. both of these lights are on as well as the door ajar light. the dome light does not work or anything does not work. the engine does not crank or anything. what's wrong with my car? any feedback would help...all fuses were checked...and i don't know of any way of checking if the relays are burnt out. someone help please!

Was the SCION running while you were changing the battery?

I'm positive you blew a whole bunch of fuses.

Yep, check and double check fuses with a multimeter. Even though they may not look blown, some might be.

still doesn't run...we checked all the fuses...the ecu...and nothing appears to be wrong with the car. i'm a bit disappointed that i'm gonna have to bring it into the dealer and spend a hefty load of cash just for the diagnosis.

What about looking in the phone book for a mobile mechanic that has those tools?

And what about replacing EVERY fuse? It almost seems like it has to be a fuse to do this.

Come on SCIKOTICS...what else could it be? :-|

There is a fusible link block under the hood. you probably popped one of those. The fuses are secondary protection after the links.

And what about replacing EVERY fuse?

Don't do that. It is a waste of time. Stick with you major fuses and the links. The radio fuse will not stop you car from starting.

that would be in the harness that goes to the fuse box, is under it, we have had quite a few of those happend at work..

If you checked the fuses and ecu and nothing works, then like somebody more than likely it would be the fusible link since just about everything is not getting power from the fuse box under the hood.
