spring modding! (build thread)

well now that i have some of the leds i got over winter in now im doing some more serious and labor intensive modding on my days off... heres the pics i snapped yesterday durring working on it

as you might be able to see in the last pic theres is still a little bit of work that needs to be done to make it completely smooth and the it will be onto taking care of the gapping hole i cut into the middle. i cut out the stock fabric section so that it can be re covered in suede. not sur eif i will go with black or tan yet on the suede (after the door panels are done i will continue to chang eout my interior to suede as i can afford it)

also as no not be riding for a long period of time with out my entire interior i am doing this one door panel at a time.

Josh..... what exactly are you doing, and if here is over 1 millimeter of bondo on anything you fail! Bondo is not a good thing, less is more!

Yup I know about the bondo. There's really very little on there. What I'm doing with the panels is smoothing out around the locks and door handles. I'll snapsome pics of before and upload them on my first break

Thanks pete. It's really subtle but will still be really different. I was actually inspired by the top of the doo panels on the new beatles. There always smooth and color matched to thee car

and Adam I thought about doing the whole panel but I thought that much paint would look tacky and make the panels not match the rest of the interior so I'm just doing the very top section of them

Yeah it shines like the top of the Chrysler building.... Have a garage full of red headed orphans singing in joy and awe... ;)

Well, I taped off the lenses first, sanded down the red plastic surround, then gave that a coat of adhesion protection, a couple of primer and a couple of BSP to match the exterior paint. Then taped that off and gave the lenses a couple of coats of VHT, wet sanded everything and did a couple coats of clear coat...

Also did my turn signals in the mirrors, the rear reflectors and today will likely be happy headlight day...

Yeah there not on there perfect cause I hadthem on top of eye lids originally but they got messed up so I removed the vinyl and just restuck the LEDs back on for now. Here's an up close pic of my new wheels

Nope still have them. It would have been like 250 for two new tires (the chromes front two tires were down to the metal) and I picked this set of wheels and tires up for 300
