View Full Version : Gauging interest for tC Roof Spoiler

Hey Peeps,

Well, I've been around the block a couple times and every now and again I hear that someone wishes there was a roof spoiler for the tC instead of the ped. or lip spoiler that goes on the trunk above the TBL.

I've been in contact with NIA BodyKits and they said they can make one specifically for the tC. It would fit like a glove and guaranteed to flow with the lines of the car, no obscenely big thing that attracts attention. So, I'm running this thread to see who would be interested. It would cost in the neighborhood of $140, but that can change once it's actually created.

Here's what it could look like. This is one NIA made for the Dodge Charger:

I've seen these on ebay I'm pretty sure. I'm a fan of having a glass from cowl to hatch and wouldn't change it myself.

I saw a tC with a bunch of roof fins on it not a spoiler and it looked pretty good. They had the roof fins all the way across the back if i can find a pic of it ill post it later.

Are you talking about the Evo style vortex generators? They're on ebay for $20. I thought about getting them to see what they would look like on mine.

well depending on the price and size, id say yea. i like the STI roof spoiler, but that would be difficult to make.

the wing and those little pointy thing ruins the sleek and clean look of the tc roof. I'd say leave it all glass. Dont try to add extra angles, just because it works on one car, doesnt mean it will look right on the tC. my .02 cents.

I think they look pretty cool but I also like it without them so really it depends on what you like i guess.

Ok, it would look something like this I presume but think of it more in line with the glass roof. NIA bodykits make some seriously good products and the fact that they take the time to do R&D, there's no worry that it will flow with the lines and glass of the ride.

Yeah I got her back on monday. shes all fixed! lol.

And yeah NIA makes some good stuff I had their eye lids on my other set of headlights and loved em!

just because it works on one car, doesnt mean it will look right on the tC. my .02 cents.

Agreed... BUT I kinda like them too because they're different. I've only seen them on EVOs and this picture. I have almost bought them in the past and can't guarantee I wont in the future, haha!

^ If you don't like it, you're just out of $20....not too big of a deal. I'd say do it.

Bump it up!

NIA BodyKits will make a roof spoiler specifically for the tc that flows flawlessly with the lines and curves of the ride. Adding more without taking away.

NIA will need me to get 10 people to start a group buy with pre-orders. We currently have 7 so all we need is 10 more.

Yes i thought the same thing, it sticks up too much if it followed the curve of the car's roof more it could look pretty good

^ Interesting. I've seen that one before but I think it doesn't flow with the body well enough. I know NIA will make a much better version.

I actually like that one better. A bit more pronounced.

Eh, $220 for fiberglass and NIA can do it cheaper and better, even ABS plastic!

Hey guys, just got word back from Kevin of NIA. Here's what he had to say when I had shown him we have at least 10 people.

"Keep me updated, as soon as you have 10 people to give a 50%
deposit within 30 days we can start the paypal invoices. if 30 days pass
with out having 10 deposits then everyone will recieve their refund in
full."

Ok, so the 10 people that stated they'd want one, please go ahead and send me a PM so I can get a list together for Kevin and we can set up the paypal invoices.

I'll get back to you all ASAP on the estimated cost & deposit's.

the roof spoiler in fiberglass you are looking at around $150 in abs or urethane it would be $250. these are just estimates.

So it looks as though fiberglass will be the easiest way to go and since it's on the roof, it's the least likely place to get damage so fiberglass should be fine.

Yeah, bring it back up to Kevin when you head down there. I went ahead and PM'd the people who said they'd want one and instructed them to get ahold of Kevin at NIA so we'll see.

any updates on this? If they have a prototype built and on a car to look at. It all depends on the style. The one on the dodge isnt noticable enough. I like the silver one, paint it gloss black to look like the glass and your all set.

Aurora

yeah, we're still working on something to get it just right.

HammeredRooster

when you get it, let me know. I will even volenteer to test the prototype. I like the idea of putting the T.B.L. under it and I am going to smooth out the back hatch like that pic you did of the white one.

Come to the chapter meeting tonight and you'll see the first one installed on my ride. If you'd like, we can cruise in together and meet beforehand.

^ Yeah, if you like that design, go for it. Personally, it's still wasn't complete enough for my project as I wanted one that spanded from one side of the roof to the other.
