Actually, you don't get better MPG my driving extremely fast.... Well, that depends. Legally speaking, you get the picture.
The use of gas is focused on the RPM's. That's why they say you get better MPG by going 50 rather than 70 because your rpm's are a lot lower in the same gear. That's one way.
Check the air in your tires, make sure you are aired up properly. Get all the weight out of your car.

tire pressure is a big one...make sure you are running the correct psi in the tires front and back. also make sure that your oil is changed when its supposed to be, and depending on how many miles are on the car, you may wanna check the injectors. if the injectors start to gum up, then that will cause a drop in MPG.

It all comes down to how you drive. If you granny drive (don't accelerate hard) and use the cruise control a lot, you can get higher mileage.

Cruise control hurts your gas milage
i've driven with and without cruise control in my tc and actually get getter gas mileage with it on. i get a lazy foot when i drive for a long time, so it will fluctuate a great deal in speed. with cruise control, i set it for 75 and let the good times roll.

Cruise control is a benefit in flat areas. If you're driving over some very hilly spots, I wouldn't recommend it.
It was great for my trip out to Tulsa this year... Indy is so damn flat!

true that, because then it's not trying real hard to maintain the speed that is set. but if there are hills, then it is constantly trying to maintain speed.

Where's your proof behind that?
With cruise control on, you're using a much better computer controlled throttle, rather than your analog foot control. It can keep the throttle and speed constant for longer periods of time than your foot can.

Unless you foot locks up, like it did for me on the way to Tulsa. I had to pull over and walk around a minute.

Cruise control is good for flat areas yes but going up a hill, the cruise will use everybit of throttle it can to maintain the speed, sucking up gas.

It was a little uncomfortable, but I was numb from hours 12-20 (at hour 20, I took a 3 hour nap).

So will your foot when you step on the gas harder... Deadfoot driving is for idiots. What's your point with that?

but back on topic, i believe pulleys will help a little, free up some parasitic drag.

True, free up some weight and ull be fine!!! I havent seen a lot of things that will necesarily "help" in gaining gas mileage other then driving at a constant speed and keeping ur rpm's down

what about better gas to buy say 91 or motor oils ? maybe even transmission fluids ? dunno just tossing around things ... i was thinking maybe time to clean my CAI air filter it is dirty & the winter rain is coming to Nor *Cal maybe it is time to install stock air box with KNN drop in filter or TRD ;) oh wait i think someone once told me that if you upgrade your spark plugs & wires you gain HP & better gas mileage is this true ? if so what brands should i look into buying i have allways been a huge fan of accel http://www.accel-ignition.com/
