Hey guys I was hoping you can give me some info. I have a xA and bought one of those Bomz intakes off ebay. I want to know what the difference is between that and a $250 Injen intake? What makes it worth that price tag. I just want to be able to justify the price for the product. As far as I see they are both a pipe with a filter.
Also what would the difference be between short ram and regular?

Can't help you with difference between the Injen and the other. Part of it is probably paying for the name/reputation. The other part is probably quality of materials. It could be the quality of the metal, the thickness of the metal, the quality of the welds, thickness of coatings, or precision of mounts for the MAF and supports.
I went with the Injen because I would rather buy quality once than crap 2 or 3 times.
The theory of short ram vs full intake has to do with air temperature. Cold air is more dense than warm air resulting in more fuel being mixed in and more power. By moving the end of the intake from the engine, the air is cooler. The short ram picks up more heat from the engine.
This makes some sort of sense, but how much difference is really up for debate. You will find people who say it makes a world of difference and those who say it makes no difference.
In the end, you are the judge and as long as you are happy it doesn't matter if it is long or short or Injen or other.

the metal tube in the bomz (ebay intakes) is very thin and dents and bends real ez, the filter isnt very good either. several people have had the CEL lights come on after installing one. its believed to be due to the place ment of the maff sensor.
save up $$ and by a name brand, better materials and more testing involved in the developement and production

ok guys thanks so much for the input. I will be picking up a Injen soon enough. I just bought a sway bar and carbon fiber spoiler so I will wait a few weeks for the intake.
