I figured a minor "mid-life crisis" update was coming and here it is.
I can't believe I'm about to say this . . .
But . . .

I like the original exterior better, esp. the front. That looks a bit like a bigger xD nose, which is what I didn't like about the xD.
The rear is nice, but not sure about it till I see it in person.
The interior is very similar, but w/ a new interior seat cover and center console. I'm not a fan of odd-patterned seats, so that is a "downgrade" to me. The console looks interesting. I'm wondering how it looks and functions in person. I DO like how the ipod interface is buried in there. I might retrofit it into mine.
The gauges replaces the temp w/ a clock and outside temp. I'd rather have an engine temp gauge, but that is the sports-driving enthusiast in me. Most would ignore it anyways. They also moved the warning lights to a random scattering in what used to be silver. The silver is limited to just gauge rings. Again, I like the original better, from an aesthetic POV.

I do like the pivoting steering wheel. I wonder if it would make any practical difference for me . . .


I will add that I like the new side vents better.

well, I'm not afraid to say that I LIKE IT!!! the rear bumper is dope, the front??? well I do like the slimer upper grill and the side bumper vents. I HATE the new center console though. doesn't fit the interior that well. I wonder if I can buy the 2011 tails and put them in my 08. :) :)

Just a guess . . . but . . . probably.
I wonder if the contours of the tail light/bumper line are the same as the 08-10. If so, it would just be a wiring issue. If not, you'd need both the lights and bumper.

I like the center console, I want something like that in my B and hope I can get it to fit in mine. I hate the seat covers, they're stupid looking.

the side vents do look cool, rip off of the RS 7 kit, which I like. But the front end sucks. too much of a Rumion feel to it. I also dont like the tail lights, unless of course I could get them and get my bumper shaved to get rid of the random backup light.

I really want to see this in person, cause I might not hate it as much in person, but as of right now I kinda hate it.

I'm really feeling the interior. I LOVE the seat pattern, it's so crazy it's amazing. I like the gauge cluster also, i don't own a gen2 but i've driven in one a bit. The exterior on the other hand... wtf were they thinking? It looks like an ebay body kit... seriously. I LOVE the taillights though.

Definitely not feeling it.. The tails are the only thing I like new about it. If you take the sides of the rear bumper off, the rear now looks like a tahoe or some suv.. from the front, it looks like the tc and xb bumpers had a baby..

you know, a couple years back, myself and about 15 other ppl from the scene here in phoenix got invited by scion corp to meet with the chief design engineer of the current xB. the xb2 was his baby. so during the meeting, he asked us to go around the room one by one and tell him why we chose to go with scion, as well as what we liked/disliked of the current xb2. he also requested to know our very first impression of the xb2, summed up in one word. long story short, when it got to me, i told him that i like that the xb2 had more power, and projector headlamps. that was it. i never went into explaining everything i disliked about it. i wanted to be respectful.

then it came down to the one word first impression, in which i said "minivan". call me crazy, but when the translator told him that, im pretty sure he got pissed off. but he thanked me for being honest anyway. especially since i was one of the only 1st gen owners that was there.

we all gave our input about what we would change, and what we liked. i believe that was the whole purpose of the meeting. its really sad to see this newer xb3 come out looking like this. its pretty obvious there was a blatant disregard to the feedback that we gave them.

they did a few of these meetings around the country, and im sure they all went the same way for the most part. i just wish they would have listened to the ppl instead of doing what they felt ppl would like.

Only thing I like is the telescopic wheel and maybe the center console? Good idea with the clock and temp display but what they should of done with the gauge cluster in made a bigger LCD screen on the left to display everything and left the engine temp where it was. Exterior wise...I don't even want to get into that soap box...simply said fuggin fail!!! On a positive note it'll help the 08-10 xB's value! They should of left it alone! Love the XB2 and XB1. I agree that when its stock the XB2 looks like somewhat minivanish, just like the XB1 looks like a really cheap minivan when it is stock. but we didn't buy our cars to keep them stock eh?

I agree 100%. The RS7 reminds me of an early 90's bodykit and looks beyond outdated, but when I saw it at the dealership I was impressed. Pics still look bad to me, but in person it looks good. I'm thinking the xB2.2 will look better in person and in a different color.

I liked the Dammed kit in the pic & not the paint. Saw it at my dealer....now I like the paint and didn't like the KIT. In the sun that is cool paint. I dso think the kit could be tweeked too. Like made the vents fuctual.

worst case scenario u have to run wrieing all the way from controll but gheteo rig u can pull out the single reverce add a leg and run it to other side not to hard to do but if u have to do bumper that will suck. personaly id putt reverce lighte both in tails and where the reflectors but everyone knows how i am with lighting lol:hide::cheer:

My take on the new B.... don't like it. AT ALL!!!!
Cons
1.The front bumper is just weird
-the emblem got shoved into the grill
-the bumper comes straight out from the bottom of the headlight! wtf is that!
-The scoops look like they took them off another car, simply out of place causing the fenders to be distorted outward.
2. Reflectors on the rear bumper like the corolla was a very bad idea. makes it look cheap.
3. Armrest delete. i love the arm rest, relaxes my arm when i shift. Also the high center console looks strange, like something is missing in front of it.
4.The Temp Gauge is a MUST HAVE for me.
5.All of the lights being scattered around the clocks makes it look unorganized.
6.The seats look really outdated. 95' accord seats popped into my head when I saw them.
7.Solid red tails looks better than the 2 tone tails.
8. The single reverse light was one of the staples of the xB2. should have kept it.
PROS
1. Telescopic steering wheel is always a good feature to have.
2. The rear bumper (minus the reflectors) can be modded easier than that of the 08'-10' models, like making a diffuser or something.
3. Everything else that stayed the same.

Toyota needs to be sober when they do this stuff cuz this is going to hurt for a little bit. :wallb: I agree with Matt that it looks way to much like the Rumion (luckily we don't get the 1NZ and 2ZZ like the Rumion has).
I can live with Dan's rendering of the new B. Way better without the emblem and without the split scoop humps, but that bumper is still disgusting. looks like a bad body kit from need for speed.

This model will find its niche as have all the others.

The "SHAPE" hasn't changed at all !!! A new front & rear doesn't "KILL" a model. You're too extreme dood....but hey, that's your opinion and I can respect that !

The same thing was said when the xB2 came out, now THAT's what you can call a box killer. A lot said Scion fuck'd up then. Totally different in EVERY aspect from the Gen1, but after a while we got used to it and it was accepted. The 2011 only changes the front and rear bumpers !!!

The New 2011 Scion xB is more Toyota Rumion from the outside, But it still more of the same with a little tweaks. Nothing WOW to it... The Only thing I like from it is the new Tail Lights with the reverse light on them like the Corolla Rumion Tail Lights. I want to do that conversion to my xB Rear... but with the Rumion JDM Bumper and the new 2011 tail lights. But I personally still loving the 2008 2010 front of the 2nd gen XB. Oh By the way the 1st Gen xb and 2nd Gen they are NOT the Same and even NO the Predesor of the 1st Gen. It Just a New Model completely copied from the Rumion. The 2nd Gen of the xb is really the new BB in Japan and it looks quiet funny and very stylish too...

my buddy just got a 2011 and it looks better in person. I like the army rock color and the elusive blue color. both are awesome. The tail lights are NOT LEDs, they are typical tails. And the reflectors on the rear bumper are still queer. looks like it was taken from a camry.

Having looked and compared the 2011 w/ my 2009 closely, I can comment on the heads and tails:

On the 2011, the inner part of the headlamps are taller. The outside through upper half of the inner parts are the same. But, it goes lower into the bumper near the new grill inlet design.
On the taillamps, the 2008-2010 has a more squared angle/corner on the side into the bumper. The 2011 as more of a "slant" to it. Just a guess, but it MIGHT be the same shape as the 2008-2010 Rumions.

On both, the metal edges seem to be the same shape, but the edges into the bumper part are slightly different.

As such, for a "clean" install w/ no gaps, you'll need the bumpers as well as the light housings. Installing 2011-on lights onto the 2008-2010 bumpers will have the fronts needing some cut-out, while the rears will have a small gap at the bottom.

I figured a minor "mid-life crisis" update was coming and here it is.
I can't believe I'm about to say this . . .
But . . .

I like the original exterior better, esp. the front. That looks a bit like a bigger xD nose, which is what I didn't like about the xD.
The rear is nice, but not sure about it till I see it in person.
The interior is very similar, but w/ a new interior seat cover and center console. I'm not a fan of odd-patterned seats, so that is a "downgrade" to me. The console looks interesting. I'm wondering how it looks and functions in person. I DO like how the ipod interface is buried in there. I might retrofit it into mine.
The gauges replaces the temp w/ a clock and outside temp. I'd rather have an engine temp gauge, but that is the sports-driving enthusiast in me. Most would ignore it anyways. They also moved the warning lights to a random scattering in what used to be silver. The silver is limited to just gauge rings. Again, I like the original better, from an aesthetic POV.

I do like the pivoting steering wheel. I wonder if it would make any practical difference for me . . .


I will add that I like the new side vents better.
Im all with ya man this shits wack man interior looks ok but the front end man eww looks like a pit bull no engine temp thats weird one of the first cars iv'e sen with out em and i personally dont like it the seats aren't too good looking either.P.S HEY GUYS IS there a Bigger console for the 08 xB can't seem to find any and by bigger i mean interior space Volume that's the word

....totally new to the forum and the xB. Little back story:

Used to be huge into the Vdubs. Had a MKIV Jetta GLI. Loved it...but it was a daily driver and the sun set on our relationship(haha) when I needed a car with less miles and less problems. To be fair...I rode that car hard!!!! :smile:

Now I'm here because I love tweaking the looks and performance of vehicles when time and money permits. I bought the 2011 xB and can't say I'm in love with either style of the xB2(bought for practical reasons). But the potential is there. Even with the 2011 that most are dogging.

Someone was asking if the 2011 tails would swap straight over to the 08-10 xB2's...The answer is NO they won't...Someone in our club was allowed to try this at a local dealership and they did not fit...Figures Scion would change it up just enough where we would not be able to swap things over...

I have the 2011 xb and personally i love it. The front bumper gives it a more aggrsive look and when its lowered it looks mean as hell. And the tail lights is the main reason i like it more cause with the reverse light in the bumper it made it look goffy. Now the release xb is a shame cause the exahust is way to quite for an aftermarket and the trd springs dont even give it a different look plus the bumper extentions arent even functional.
