Hey guys...I'm about to buy some new tires in the next few months and I was wondering if I get an opinion on the best tires for the rain -- or what I should look for in a tire to determine if it's best in the rain such as how wide or thin the tires is....any advice would be appreciated :afro:

Well a lot of it is the tread mainly. Don't get summer tires for one. Get all seasons. And just read reviews on them, you should be able to sort them out pretty good.
I've got BF Goodrich G-Sports and they handle awesome in the rain. I never slide or anything really.

I've had a couple sets of BH Goodrich G-Force Sports on my Miata and have a set now. I also got a set for the xB. I've been VERY happy with them BOTH in the rain and on dry mountain roads. I REALLY like them . . .
Whenever these wear out, I'll get another set of them.
That are BF Goodrich's direct competitor to teh Toyo TS1 and the TR1s that replaced them. For those that may remember the decline of BFG after its hey-day, it is owned by Michelin and they are using them for performance. Their North American HQ is in Greenville (and one of their main test tracks is literally a few miles southeast of my house), so I've had the opportunity to talk w/ the folks at Michelin about them . . .
I'm sold.

LoL, I would but I'm a bit close to the GM. He will suspected it was me:(! He also knows I need tires so hell know it was I!
However I can give U a coupon if U want to drive to Atl,Ga and see me to get it and have the tires instaled by me LoL! Or U can go online at ntb.com or tbc.com to find the closest retail near U and print a coupon out.
"But seriously those tires kick ass in rain and shine, U wont be dissapointed I promise!"

Out of all the tires I had on my tC, the best were BF Goodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2. I autocrossed my car frequently and even when being pushed hard in the rain during competition, these tires held the pavement very well.
As far as what to look for in a tire, you want wide channels to evacuate water from. Typically, a wide channel that goes through the center of the tire as well as wide diagonals to get force the water out from under the tire towards the sidewalls.

Michelin Hydroedge.
U are 110% right but the Hydroedge dose not come in the tC low profile size.
However for a xB,xD, and xA it will be the ultimate rain tire ever!!!!!!

BF Goodrich is in the Michelin family so it will be a awsome 2nd choice if $$$$$ is the main concern, however BF's are know to be a bit rough!
And U hit the spot with the wide channels another reason I recomended the Michelin!

I have the ExtremeContact DWS and they are awesome tires. Great for the ever changing Minnesota weather that I have to deal with... I use blizzaks in the winter, but I still have full faith in the ExtremeContacts if I ever get caught in a spring snow storm.
The DWS stands For Dry, Wet, Snow, DWS is actually embedded on the tread of the tire, when the S is worn off, its not suitable snow anymore, when the W is worn off, its not suitable for wet roads, and of course when the D is worn off its not good for Dry roads.
They are also almost as good as the Ventus V12's when it comes to handling and performance (per tirerack.com ratings) but they also have better wet traction and hydroplaning resistance, and it performs great in snow, something you never want to do with a summer tire.

I was actually looking at the Michelin!! I just bought rims and they came with tires -- Sunny sn3800...never heard of them, so I looked them up, $70 a tire. I was a little annoyed cause I figured I'd have to buy new tires, but I've been holding off, so far they seem ok, but they were brand new when I got them so idk yet, but I have yet to read about anyone with them on a tc....

+1 on this! I have these on my xB and they are great! Granted I've only had them on for a few weeks, so far in the rain they handle top notch.

Netterz dont go to the dark side stick with MICHELIN Pilot Sport A/S Plus!!!!!!
They are also rated to handel a bit or 2 of snow, thats why their catagory is ultra high performance all season! And so far no problems with the tires I was going 85+MPH in simi-heavy rain and they kicked ass!

bridgestone potenza RE960AS pole positions.
They do not slip on dry or in the rain. whatsoever. no joke.
But they suck in the winter haha. I highly recommend them though. They are straight to rediculous tires.
