Hey Chris, I don't know if you remember me from the last MD meet you came to, but since the last time you saw my car I put eyelids on it. I found mine on Ebay for $30-$40(there are lots that are more expensive but I wasn't sure if I'd like them or how me painting them would come out) I talked to a friend of mine that I know has painted cars before and he gave me alot of advice before I got started.

What I did: buy the eyelids(mine are fiberglass, cheapest I could find on ebay) and get a good coat or 2 of sealing primer(the paint can bleed into the fiberglass and you won't get as nice of a finish) Then use sanding primer and prime/sand/wet sand till they come out nice and smooth. Then I got a spray paint that was VERY close to my stock color and painted/sanded/wet sanded till I felt it was good. Then I used clear acrylic(wet sand as needed but don't wet sand your final coat). Then I used rubbing compound to smooth it out and finally polishing compound to make it nice and shiney.(followed by a couple coats of car wax)

You can get all the primer/paint from almost any decent auto store.

Mine came out pretty good, up close you can tell its not the exact same color and if you want you can order a spray can to match your paint exactly(which I will probably do in the future now that I know I can do it)

thanks, im sry but i can tell due to your color, but dont these seem to be bigger then regular eyelids that i usually see. am i correct???

They all look the same to me........ it might be the CF hood that makes them look that way... I dunno...
