under-dash dome light power tap? xB2

Hi.. I am wanting to install footwell LED's under the dash on both sides of an 08xB//.... I want to wire them so that they will come on ALONG with the dome light.. can you tell me which wires UNDER the dash to tap into. I'd hate to pull down the entire headliner to trace the wires back to the under-dash.. Thank you for reading this.. Please help out of you can or at least point me in the right direction.. thanks agian.. jh

Acyually wat I am trying to do is make an 'extention' of the dome light. I want to put in X-tra lights to come on when the dome light does...
BUT i need to know where to tap into the under=dash wiring for this.. I dont want to run wires all the way to the dome light. If I could find the wires leading to the dome light, that would be cool... thanks agian.. jh

Do you want the LEDs to come on when you open your door? Or do you just want them to go on when you turn on the Dome light? The door thing is quite easy, but the Dome light i dont know.

What i recently did (as of friday night) was put 2 Flex LED strips under neith the dash, and i put a custom switch, whitch is soooo much more conveniant than the dome light. So if you want to know how to do that i can easily tell you that. Its much less work and is way more conveniant.

Tap the switch that tells teh car when the doors closed.... its the ground.. when the doors open the ground is complete... when pressed in aka closed ground is broken...



To make your lights come on with the dome light like I said you would have to solder to the dome light... because it is its own switch.......

Now if you just tap em off the door switches... and connect the switches together... whenever any door is open the lights would be on...

yeah I guess I am gonna have to run wires up to the dome light. Anyone know how to take the dome light down on an 08 xB? See.. when I hit the rremote unlock on my key. the dome light comes on too! I want the underdash lights to come on with the dome & go off with the dome.. So lookslike I'll have to borrow a fish tape & try to go 'up' through the b pillar & come out at the dome light........ thanks for the replies, anyways.... jh

I'm doing the same thing but I'm using 1-4" just under the ash tray and one
under the rear cup holder of armrest in an 06 xB.
