I'm signed up to instruct again and have the saturday OK'ed from management!

The only thing required is a helmet, a car, and $120 for TWO days of track time & good odds of one-to-one instruction the whole time!

Looks like a lot of fun & a great weekend. I've got a 21010 XB the only performance mods (sort of) are the rear sway bar and 16x7 wheels, other5 wise very stock.

My questions: can you explain the solo course? Would I drive through obsticals for time?

2nd - What's up with the helmet? I'm quessings it's for liablity? Would I really be doing anything that could cause a roll-over? My car is my daily driver.

The only hemet I have is for my Mtn bike/skater hemet and I'm guessing that won't qualify. So, how much an I gonna drop on an approved hemet?

As far as the video goes The pit marshall has directed me through the pits, to the line. Once you are lined up at the line, the starter will let you go when the course is safe to do so. You can then start any time after that. As you can see, there is a possibility you may make a mistake... I don't know if you can see, but the clock starts when I pass the second set of cones, and stops when I pass the double cones at the end.

The courses are typically about 60 seconds. You walk the course, memorize the course, figure out your lines, and memorize that.
Your instructor wil coach you on this, and also behind the wheel, as you're actually doing it.

You will also learn how to work on the course - everybody helps.

When you're on the course in your car, you encounter turns 4 times more frequently than an F1 driver.

Almost any time you're competing in a car, you have to wear a helmet. Even drag racing, if your car is faster tha 14 sec.

On an autocross course, most FWD cars are cornering hard enough to lift the inside rear tire. I've never seen a roll. I wear a helmet.

and this was my student last year, in a stock Versa. He learned a lot (even pointed out something to me - always something to learn) and he developed to a great driver

If my wife had signed up with the guys, she would have finished 2nd of 3, just in front of a 180hp Celica GTS!!!
