ok so my brother changed my breaks sunday and he knows what he is doing

my problem is this after he changed them they are still squeaking when i press on the break .. i got the ceramic brakes that is for the tc so it is the right brakes .. after looking around on the internet i hear and read all kinds of different things it can be .. the pads where put on right and the shims are on there right, the pads came with a little gel grease pack that said to rub that on the pads i did that break fluid is filled up no air in the lines, no leaks, nothing wrong with my rotors, nothing wrong with the calipers .. so my mind is just blank so my question is has this happened to anybody else .. my brother said wait couple days to see if maybe they just need broken in but on other cars i have owned and he has changed the breaks on them they never did that, and i did buy the cheap breaks during those times cause i wasn't really into the car scene just wanted something to do the job and well they never squeaked so i am wondering if it is just the ceramic that needs to be broken in after some time and it will go away

thanks guys

It depends on the quality of the brake pad. If they're cheaper ones they will still squeak a little. I have noticed that my nearly new factory pads squeak a little when the rotors get wet, could it be after you drive through a puddle or anything?

Maybe it did rain all day yesterday .. I will see if it does it today or tomorrow once it dries up

Thanks

Not exactly on topic but related. A tip that our sponsor gave me the other day. Leave the rear brakes alone. He runs Hawk HPS pads up front and standard OEM pads in the back. Since all the weight transfers to the front under heavy braking it makes the rear prone to locking up, which triggers the ABS. The stock pads don't grab as hard as racing pads so the ABS doesn't freak out. Especially helpful if you are lifting tires in AutoX.

I thought the TRD brakes were for the TRD big brake kit that is a little over a grand... They look nice, but I'm not sure if they're really necessary for our cars with stock horsepower at least. At Scion Pinups last year there was a guy who had gotten the TRD big brake kit off a Celica and put them on the front of his tC. They looked wicked with some decent rims, but he really needed to get the rear assemblies too!

It's off topic, but I found a pic.

They have both. Uprated brakes for OEM and replacement pads for the big brakes.

Heres the deal:
Higher performance pads have a tendency to squeak more. Especially ceramics. You have to deal with that but still get increased stopping power. There are various chemicals you can put on the backs of the pads to help quiet the squeaking, usually silicon based.

Most of what your talking about has nothing to do with squeaking. Being at $60 for the pair, they really are not top quality.

Even still, look into compounds for the pads on the back. You can also try stopping really hard your first few stops, the hotter they get, (warming up) the less they will squeak.

ok cool thanks Jeremy i will try that .. and yea tyler i got them from pepboys all auto zone had was the cheap ones that cost like 20 bucks but the ones i got is suppose to stop brake dust up to like 75% than other pad's and is a higher quality pad from what i was told

Not a problem, typically OEM pads do the best with stopping brake dust, but theres really not much you can about it. There is a product called no more dust that is supposed to repel, I have personally not tried it but have been told great stories.

yes you could have gotten the $20 ones. I currently run cheap brakes while saving for drilled and slotted rotors with performance pads all the way around ha.

Get your money back.. Then shop around online.. For one, if you buy out of state there usually isnt any sales tax.. Plus, companies online have to compete harder to give the best price, its just too easy to go some where else on the internet...

Try Meng.. Tony gets great parts at wonderful prices... and he will beat out any competitoin, but dont quote me on that.. There is a whole section on his site for tC break systems and pad replacements...

ok so i have never did this before when i changed my brakes and never knew you really had to do this if nothing was wrong with your rotors but after talking to about 5 different brake places today, and a friend who does this for a living that would not steer me wrong everybody told me that i need to turn the rotors especially with ceramic brakes and well anytime you do a break job it is a good thing to do but not really necessary all the time

from what i gathered the pad forms a shape into the rotor and when you replace the pad the new pad sometimes does not fit good with the shape of the old pad so you need to shave it or turn it something like that so i will see in the mourning if this is what is causing the squealing

keep yall posted

If your rotors feel smooth from the center to the outside with your fingertip and not rigid or bumpy, then they are good.. You will just want to wait until the pad breaks in and fills the small gaps.. Ceramics may be more touchy, ive never used them.. But im pretty sure it will go away eventually with out turning the rotors.. It wont hurt if you do..
