Which HU do you have in your D?
In my girlfriends B with a stock HU my iPhone has to be plugged in when you start the car, but that's just for the USB.
My sisters D came with the Pioneer AVIC nav HU. it had settings that had to be turned on before the AUX and USB would work.

Well, it can be finicky. I have the iPhone 3GS as well. Use the interface cable that came with the car. When you plug it in, you will see the screen (on the iPhone) change, usually to say, this is not supported and will not charge the phone... do you want to put the phone in flight mode. Say no or cancel. A short time later, the screen switches to where it says Scion in black and white... now hit the iPod button on the stereo. Should work fine and the phone calls will come through the stereo speakers, it just wont charge.

There is an adapter that will let the phone charge, but won't allow the calls through the speakers. It's under 20 bucks, just plugs into the end of the cord and moves the pin that is the phone pin to the charging pin. The main difference between the iPhone and the iPods.

Good Luck!

There were reports on the AVIC411 site that the most reliable way is to pay the apple tax and buy the $50 audio/video cable for the iPhone. You'll still get the incompatible message on the phone, but after you ignore it the message goes away and everything is fine.

It should work as is. Did you put the phone in iPod mode before plugging it in? Mine works fine with the cable Scion supplied.

so i tried many many more times to get it to work. no luck. i even tried my itouch, and my brothers ipod nano. i think i'm just going to have the dealership look at it or call scion to find out whats wrong. I'm thinking maybe something isnt connected to the stereo that should be maybe. Well thanks for trying to help!! I'll let you know what they say tomorrow.

so i called the dealership today. they think i'm a dumb chick that doesnt know anything. lol they said i probably dont have it hooked up right! lmfao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we'll see tomorrow. is there anything else i could hook up to the aux. or usb to see if it works besides and iphone or ipod?

If it's the aux not working either then it's probably more than just the hu not wanting to recognize the iPhone/iPod. Weird

Do you have a PSP or DS or portable gaming system? A camera with an A/V out? I don't have an xD but I do play back vids from the cam and use the auxiliary port to connect to get surround sound lol.

If the iphone and the aux doesnt work then the dealership did not connect the wires on the back of the radio, pop off the waterfall and unscrew the 4 screws holding the radio in, then look on the back of the radio if anything is not plugged in, if you are missing a plug, fish around in the dash till you find it. plug it in and use your iphone. :D

Oh and there may be some confusion from some of the other posts. The 2008 and 2009 xD, has a different cable than the 2010 models. The 2010's do not use a Scion supplied cable, they do not have an "ipod" connection, they have a USB connection that the ipod's/iphone's charging wire connects to.
