Ok I've been putting off lowering my car for a month. Now I got a way better job n lots of money so this Friday its finally time to order some.

I have been saying I was gonna get the Tein S. Techs because they are the lowest I have seen.

But now I saw the Skunk2s lower both frpnt and back 2.5".

My question is which spring would give better spring rate, and best handling characteristics. Im not realli goin for comfort, its not my main concern but which one feels less bouncy. Also, Im leaning towards the even f/r lowering will look gay now that I think on it more.

Another question is HIDs. Would you suggest 8k or 10k. Im thinking 10k.

Last question is exhaust. Im most likely gettin the Megan Racing exhaust. My question is I was gonna get the Megan one that looks stock, but the piping is 2.25". Im looking to get one that is 2.5"(Drift Spec).

Which one would be better performance wide.

Seems the skunk and s.techs are pretty neck and neck. If you want less bounce, you'd probably want to go with coilovers or shock/struts that'll handle a lower drop.

HIDs - I'm not sure about light laws there, but in jersey I'm getting away with 8000K, 10000K is almost surefire to getting a ticket.

I will be ordering Koni struts soon after, once I have my S-pipe and cat-back.

Do you have either of those springs. Could I get your opinion on the one you have.

Also the laws around Tn are none at all just if the cop wants to pick on you. My friend has 14K and the are straight Blue soo I'll be fine with 10k if i was to get those. I already ordered some HIDs but the group buy took to long so i got my money back. Could you get me a pic of your HIDs on in Daytime and also a pic in Night time. That would be greatly appreciated.

For my area, the S.Techs are too low.
If you click on my tc pic, it goes to my cardomain site with pics.

8k looks realli good. But, since I dont got tickets to worry about I think Im gonna go with the 10k I want just alil more blue.

Also the drop looks good with 17s. But lately Ive been thinking im goin turbo before the end of this year and ill be able to push the weight 18s. Do you think 18s would fit with your drop? You think they would rub?

8k and 10k aint a big difference, my buddy has 8 and i have 10 and they are hardly distinguishable, But my 10k are a tad bluer. if the cops aint bad i would go for the 10, or else go for the 8's. And also keep in mind, the higher in kelvin you go, the less light per watt you obtain. ( thats why oem hid's in higher end cars are usually around 5-6k.).

Got 18's and s techs, no bumps, no rubs, i like my setup, and the rims are as light as my 17's.

And for exhaust, 2.5 if your planning on turbo.

if you're worried about brightness, go with 6000K HIDs. 8000K is dimmer. 10000K is even dimmer still. The color is bluer the higher the K (Temperature) you go.

I prefer the TRD drop - don't need struts :)

I have S techs on my car, and I had 18s on it at one point, no problems whatsoever. Everyone I've talked to loves how slammed my car looks, too. I get compliments all the time on it. I have never been disappointed with my choice, but that's just me.

You can run 18's or even 19's on a drop if the wheels and tires are the proper size and offset.

im thinking bout droppin my tc as well. how low can you go before having to install caster cambers? also what bout shocks? can you drop it with stechs or hotchkis without replacing the shocks?

Dam that looks very good. Im convinced 18s are goin on my rides. But, now im building me a turbo kit again. So the rims will have to wait after I get the turbo kit done.

s techs are as far as you can go without having to need new camber bolts, i know cause i watched my mechanic align my car and he was swearing left and right, but finally he got in within specs. He told me any lower and your screwed, not only cause you need new camber bolts, but it wouldnt go on the lift. He had to get out of my car and roll it the rest of the way on the rack. no joke, when it was all the way on the rack, i had 5mm between my lip and the front of the rack. and as far as shocks, lowering your car will put your shocks outa the correct valving, so your shocks will go out eventually, depends on your luck and abuse, could be a month, could be a year. just keep that in mind, not a immediate prob, but later down the road, might wanna plan for it.

Skunk2 and S.Techs are neck to neck in drop. Both are from reputable companies. My brother, a fellow SCTCC member and myself have S.Techs and have no complaints. Another SCTCC member just installed Skunk2 springs a couple weeks back and is pretty much waiting for them to settle. So far, he has nothing bad to say about them.

Im ready to order my springs where is the cheapest place. Im about to buy from ebay for $155 the seller has 99.9% positive feedback. But if anyone knows where for around that price from a online site that would be good. CHeapest I seen was $180+shipping.

Just be careful of fake teins... go to their website to see the difference between fakes and reals.

if you drop it 2.5" then get adjustable camber links for the f&r...unless you can afford new tires every 15000 miles. I dropped my accord 2.5" with no adjustment and bought tires every year. quite annoying.

If you don't want bounce, get aftermarket struts - all springs are going to bounce on stock struts.

As for the HIDs - I had 8000k - I paid $355 for the McCullochs from xenonpros.com - the bulbs blew out within 8 months, and xenonpros were a bunch of bitches and gave me so much shit about getting them replaced - it took 4 months to get new bulbs, and then I totaled my car and destroyed the ballasts. lol - so all I have to say is - go cheap. McCulloch obviously isn't any higher quality than other brands because the shit blew out within a year.

IMO, 10000k look ricey - they're way too blue and you'll get annoyed with their shitty lighting abilities. My 8000k were decent - they were still pretty blue, but they lit the road well. So a happy medium would be 8000k IMO.

For those of you out there that do all your work on your own. Did you have to cut away half of your bump stops. Or can you just leave it alone.

Didn't have to touch them, but I have the TRD springs not the S-Techs.

The trds lower how much like 1.25" I think. Im sure it stiffened up the handling. But to me the drop you get isnt worth dropping it at all. But, then again not everyone likes to be dumped and scraping everywhere they go.

2dot4
08-19-2007, 05:06 PM
you shouldn't have to trim bumpstops with a 2.5" drop - in fact - its better to leave them alone because they help you. if you trim them, you allow more travel than your suspension is built to handle, which can lead to damage. Even if you drop it 4", leave the bump stops alone - the car will bottom out, but you keep shit from breaking.

Krdshrk
08-20-2007, 03:29 PM
TRD drop is advertised at 1.25". In reality it'll settle to 1.5" or more depending on use.

*Update*

Well I recieved my springs on friday(tein S.Techs) and installed them. I was in a rush and made a few mistakes on the rears and it was making a noise on the right rear. So, I was forced to drive to work with it making noises thinkin my stuff was about to break. So, just yesterday I took it all apart. And fixed what was wrong and now its prefect. Im loving the spring rate inicrese, the added stabability and new handling characteristics. I love the drop. It really low in the front and the back is pretty low also. Once the settle im thinking it'll be a lil lower and look even better.

Next mod is my Catback which is already in the mail. And, I think this friday Im gonna go ahead and order my Invidia S-Pipe.

*EDIT*

Also, I feel as the car isn't as stiff as I would like it to be. So, now its time for sway bars n front strut tower bar. My question is whish should I go with TRD rear sway bar or Hotchkis Sway bar kit. I already knoe which FSTB im going for. Im going with the DC sports as I like the style n look of it.
