Thats exactly how I would paint them... just dont do what I did with my old car, there was an inner set of tails and an outer set, I painted one set in the garage where I had them hung up, then the other set I painted on a rack outside..... Bad idea!!!! The set inside looked perfect, the set outside looked like gray primer... Just make sure to paint it all in the same place.... But definatly clear them, some people done and it just looks dull, clearing them makes them look awesome... Just take your time inbetween coats... Clean with some 3m wax and grease remover to get them really clean... Ok I think I have said enough.... good luck.... I wanna tint mine so bad...

go by acetone, micro fiber clothes, painters tape, newspaper and gloss clear coat
(you can do it this way OR you can remove the headlight, and just tape off the back of it)
...but i can't tell you how to take it out, it's not thattt easy

1. tape off the area around your headlights (make sure you get under the edge of the lens so the tint doesn't sneak onto your paint)
i lifted my hood and just put newspaper over my engine and stuff

2. acetone the headlight lens, this is how you clean it.
put the acetone on a microfiber cloth and wipe them clean

3. Use a dry micro cloth to dry it/remove the chemical

4. after you newspaper off, basically your whole car, or cover it with something so you don't get black specks all over it, you start tinting.

5. The nozzle on the VHT has a flat, vertical spray, so you are going to want to go in side-to-side, sweeping motions across the lens
- I would spray until you have an even coat, this might mean going back over it a couple times, BUT MAKE SURE YOU DON"T PUT TOOO MUCH, because it will run like a BITCH

6. wait about 15-30 minutes for the previous layer/coat of tint to dry before you start your next one, if you don't, it will run

7. Tint until your hearts content, but just remember, if you go completely black (about 5-7 coats, or 3-5 thick coats), you're probably going to have to buy new light bulbs, unless you have HID's

8. Let the tint dry completteellyy, you can use a blowdryer if you get impatient (low heat) THEN spray the gloss clear coat
-make sure you do the same, even layers and stuff
-I put 2 thick layers on mine, so rocks and bugs wont mess it up

DON'T TOUCH THE TINT ORRRR THE CLEAR COAT, FINGER PRINTS LOOK RETTAARRDDEEEDD

good luck, message me if you need help

Thread Jack..

Joshua, you need black trim around the license plate.. The chrome throws it off..

Personally, a good overlay is easily removable if you need it to be.. Paint, not so much... Both can look equaly good, depending on the skills of the applyer...

:back on topic:

also keep in mind if you can pick up an extra set of lights if you can find them at a good price that you can play with so if you don't like it you are not stuck with them that is what i did so i have my oem tail and another set of headlights i can get my hands on if needed
