If it wasn't so much to ship to Hawaii, I would. But I know it is way to much in shipping and I won't be on the mainland for another 5 months.

what is the difference between this and the hotchkis?

Atomsk
02-26-2010, 11:10 PM
Hotchkis is hollow and 27mm. The Progress/Dan G bar will be a SOLID 25mm bar. And he uses this bar with a stock front sway for his race car.

as said from dan himself
A solid bar is always stiffer and stronger, but at the expense of weight. A hollow bar is weaker, and must have a bigger OD to achieve the same stiffness. Hollow bars are used because the way the math works, the OD plays the single greatest role in the bar's stiffness.

I don't have the math handy here at Panera, but know you'll need a bigger OD hollow bar to equal our solid one inch bar. Also the ears or moment arms play a role in the stiffness. Our bar is three-way adjustable. The stiffest setting (innermost holes) truly should only be played with on a closed course!

Well said. Just wanted to add a little to this. This runs the stock front sway. This allows better traction on corner exit with our open differential. Also, the front to rear swaybar stiffness can bias the car towards understeer or oversteer. With the stock front bar, we can run stiffer in the rear to combat understeer inherent in FWD cars.

Considering diameter alone (not even considering moment arm and other factors) this will be 200% stiffer than the stock rear sway. The "regular" progress rear sway is about 66.7% stiffer than stock.

Ordered mine a while back. Can't wait to try it out on the auto-x course!

A mass email has been sent to all those whom still have a balance outstanding. I would encourage you all to send a response with your real name and order ID to get a firm balance check. Also when you respond for the balance check, please note how you want to finish up the balance. Most of them are $100 even.

Here is the exact email you may receive:

Ladies & Gentleman,
It's about that time for payment in full to be remitted on your Custom DG Spec sway bar. I received confirmation from Progress that the bars are in transit to us via Truck Freight as of yesterday. So this means, all balances must be paid in full to have your bar be shipped out to you in a timely fashion.
Most of you owe a balance of $100, while only a couple owe less for one circumstance or another. At any rate, if you do need to know your exact balance, feel free to respond to me with your order ID or name, form of payment you want to pay with and I will gladly get your balance to you. (do not send CC info via email)
If you are receiving this email, that means you do have a balance outstanding.
Please note: We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, AMEX and Paypal. We did not retain ANY of your credit card info for the safety of your information.

Thanks for your patronage and we are looking forward to your responses.

This being said, what the difference between this and the standard 22mm Progress bar? Which would you suggest for someone running just a handful of AutoX events a season? I like the idea of new, matched set of end links with the Progress sets.

Atomsk

From my understanding it is the same one they run on Dan's road race tc. Which is a highly proven team. Compared to the stock bar and even the regular progress bar it should be significantly stiffer. So you can almost expect possible a oversteer effect on the stiffest setting. I am buying mine for Auto x events as well. Plus for the price i think you cant beat the performance. Plus On his race car he still uses a stock front bar because they provide the best combination for him. So i bet that is a suspension component that helped the team to multiple titles you cant go wrong.

man i could only imagine the oversteer its gonna make. i kno my car has oversteer with just my coils.

Well guys my bar came in at 1930 today and i installed it by 2130.
Well it is a dg rear sway! I am so happy i finally got my Christmas present!
It took honestly about 45 minutes to install by myself. My first impression is it is alot heavier and thicker than the stock sway. As Dan advised on scion life not to put in on the stiffest setting, so i followed his advise for now. Their is a significant improvement over handling compared to the stock bar and i have it on the medium setting. I am Kinda nervous to move it up to the stiffest one for fear of over steer. i would recommend this bar to anyone who has a tc get them before they are gone forever! Thanks Dan and Dezod for bringing such a bad ass product to us for a kick ass price! So here are some pics.
