I wanna put a PS2 in my tc to serve as a DVD. I trying to mount it under the front passenger seat or in the glove box. Anybody know how I should wire up the power? I'm talkin about what parts I need to make it work.

you need a power inverter that changes DC to AC then simply plug in the PS2 to the inverter. I would suggest running a 10 gauge wire to the battery for power. Remember to put a fuse within 12-18 inches of the battery.

I assume that only works with the slim PS2? :-(

yep

big ps2's draw a lot of power. i suggest trading in the big one for a slim one at a gamestop

Should work for both I would think

negative. slim ps2's have a different power plug than the normal ones

1st gen PS2's have the power supply built in. It take a standard 2-prong AC cord. The slimlines apparently have an external brick.

heres what i did...you could probably do this too....i used a 30 amp relay switch i used 8 gauge wire, but you could probably get away with using 10 for my relay switch i had it go from my distribution block for the power then the the power off of the relay went to the 350watt power inverter and just used the power inverter to plug in the ps2....gimme a few min ill draw up a picture and post it up for u....

ok here you go...this should be of some help now mind you it may be a bitch to hide ur wiring, but this is what i did in my xb....for my power wires, i ran 8gauge wire, w/ a 40amp fuse holder, and from the relay to the inverter i also ran 8 gauge, but for my grounds i ran simple 10 gauge wire, now for me i had to use disconnect terminals for the relay switch, i needed 4 of those then i needed the right terminals 4 of those to power relay and to also do some grounding...and my power cable didnt include a ring but if you go straight for the batter u will need it...i on the other hand went to my distribution block...and then u just need the butt connectors to use for ur remote turn on from ur aftermarket radio, now this on the other hand is idiot proof way to hook up ur powerinverter so u dont drain ur cars battery....if you need any otherhelp or need help understanding feel free to email me at sean@seaned.com

couldnt u just wire in a cig adapter thing behind the dash, plug the power inverter into it, then plug the power cord from the ps2 into it? and then everytime u have ur car turned on or in the acc spot, u will have power to the ps2? wouldnt that be easier?

personally for the xb...no...but for ur tcs actually it might be...unfortunately for me...i had to do it this way because i cant seem to get my cig. lighter out...so i did it my way...its not such a big deal...i mean everything is hidden no wires to worry about...but tcs were given that extra adaptor hidden that we werent...

Yes, you can do that, TML. It's not that bad - just get a cig lighter plug and tap it into the wiring behind the cig lighter that's there. You might need a stronger fuse but you'll probably be ok.

The Extra ACC plug on the tC is another circuit (fuse) itself. You could tap off that too.

Really though, why go through so many adapters? The PS2 users AC, which is what the car provides. A wall socket provides DC power, which is why there's an AC Adapter before it plugs into the PS2. Why run AC -> DC Converter -> AC Converter -> AC?

You got that backwards. The wall socket is AC, the car is DC. The PS2 itself uses DC, which is why there is a AC/DC converter either external (slim) or internal (old) provided.

all i did was hard wire another cigarette adapter off the dash one and pluged in the converter. that way when i start the car all you have to do is hit the power/reset button and swith to the aux and its on, cigarette adapter 10.00, power inverter 15.00. then all you have to do is hide the extra adapter behind the carpet or behind the center dash piece in front of the cupholders.

and i forgot..... the power inverter i got had different tips to attach and the one will fit the ps2 slim so you dont need the house power cord , that way you can just plug it in the car or unplug it and take it in the house to play.
