Got some white and black racing bucket seats but would like to do them in red color where the white fabric runs down the center...has anyone used Dupli-color vinyl and fabric spray...they have the nice red color....My only concern is the red color may rub off on my clothes mostly my work shirts because they are white. :Forum65:

Have you thought about reupholstering the center panels?? There is a guy by me who said they do it on a regular basis and seats look completely different but great !!! they basically just do the center and thats all!!

I gotcha ! Jsut not sure about a spray on type dye for the moment! There is another company called SEM I think that makes a similar product but again not sure about that one as well!! The SEM is a 2 step project with step one being to apply a base type spray on liquid and step 2 being the dye application! I have my center console done that way and its pretty good. I am almost positive SEM is at certain auto stores also! Will have to check and see !

Hey Shawn, let me know about this and how it turns out. This may be an easy interior dress up option.

whats up man! havent talked to u in a while! anyway, imo, id stay away from fabric dyes, its been my experience they do work nice for a while, but its hit a miss, and when its miss..its a mess. i would look into a re-apholster, you never know what the dye is gunna look like and ho your fabric will react, it may soak it up, or soak to much so that you cant even tell its red...jus my .02

Oh and shawn another thought would be check craigslist! Might find someone who can do upholstery good without spending arm and a leg!
Just a thought for budget minded cause I do watch Craigslist for folks like that in my area!

i know some people have used this for their pillars and headliner in place of sueding them to make it an all black interior, but hard to tell how well it is since its all black.

shawn, i used the SEM paint on my visors. turned out well. idk how it would be over time against clothes. i'm assuming you would have the seats in 24/7 right?

thats the prob we have had with dye in a "high traffic" area.. it rubs off and fades. the old shop i sued to work @ did it all the time, and we also had those people come in and complain it didnt last lol, so when i was mgr, i just refused to offer it as something we did. idk , im scared ur not going to get the red you want soley based on the fat its a dark color ur dying.. like said above, craigslist is a good option to find a decent upholstery shop.
