sup guys,
basically im planning on getting springs
either stechs or trd
but the thing is all this blown shocks issue is making me lean toward trd
but i want the full effect of a drop for the money with the stechs
thing is what you guys consider a better deal
cause i dont see myself busting about a 500+ for new shocks and struts in the long run
trds and go well with stock shocks and look nice
stechs blown shocks in 20-40k miles and replace shocks in long run?

but on top of that how much is wheel alignment and wheres a good deal to get it done?

thanks guys for all the help beforehand:mrblue::mrblue::mrblue::mrblue:

Personally i dont think trd's drop the car enough, would look the same if you put someone in your back seat. As far as the s-techs, i have them and i like them a lot, not to mention they are a superior suspension company. Had them for the past 4 months and no shock probs. And seeing that your are a little interested in suspension, getting better shocks down the road is a good idea anyway. If your planning on getting larger rims ever, you might wanna go a little lower than the trd's, cause rims will raise you back up, so dont waste your money. And allignments are about the same everywhere $60-$80. Here's a pic of my car with stechs and 18's.

far left, 19x8 with stech (mine)
middle w/ lambos 19x7.5 with stech
far right (blue) 20x? no drop

go slammed or go home! (IMO!) x2 on alignment cost, make sure to go to a shop who is familiar with lowered or even lifted vehicles

It really depends on the road conditions where you live.

I love my TRD Drop - it's lower than most people's TRD Drops (Cuz I bought the springs used, pre-settled.... and they settled even lower).

That look low enough for ya?

I love my TRD drop. With Iowa winters, S-Techs would destroy my car. Plus, the TRD's are low enough and stiff enough to make a big difference on the road track as well as at shows. I wanted the mild drop so I wouldn't have to worry about the shocks or wheel-rub. The slammed look isn't my thing.

As far as an alignment, it should cost you around $60-80 for all 4 wheels. Good luck

sup guys thanks for the advice
quick question for the owners of stechs
have you experienced wheel rubbin
and how do you know when your stock shocks are blown?
sorry totally new to this

my wheels rubbed, to fix i removed my inner fenders, i still rub on large dips but no longer when cornering (im on 19s also)

when you go over a bump your car should bounce once, if if bounces more your shocks are blown.

s-techs and 18"s, never bump or rub, i also have lip kit.You should be ok.
and i thought when your car bounces more than once, its your springs, not shocks, shocks i believe bottom out when valves blow. heres a pic with my stechs and 18's close up.

Rub on what? I haven't noticed any problems so far.. Haven't even bottomed out at all, even on that 49 mile city drive on those hills!

My local rim shop charged 300 out the door, ( no alignment of course), but they did hook me up a little, i would say no more than 400 for springs and install, if so, go somewhere else, only a hour or so maybe a little more in labor. And, when you go to get a alignment, WATCH THEM, The stechs are as low as you can go without needing camber corrections and dont let them try to sell you camber fixes, even if you needed camber corrections, the extended bolt is only about 20 bucks. Also note, the rack they used to align my car was scary, the front lip of the alignment rack was about 5mm from my lip kit. the mechanic had to get out of the car and roll it over the front lip of the rack. But if you keep a keen eye on them, they wont chance screwing your shit up. enjoy

Wow, I didn't think it would cost that much after being dropped.
